My UI windows have had a mind of their own since the Empyrean patch. |

a few months ago, i spent about 5 mins in VB making a program that would copy my settings file to my documents, and back again at the click of a button. i reccomend you do the same, so the devs can spend their time on more useful things. |

Don't they save the last position if they're pinned. And you can specify that in the settings menu by pressing escape...?
It is true that they will 'revert' if a patch is applied. But not in all cases.

No. Every. Sodding. Time.
It depends on your layout, but it seems to me that the edge-detection is off by even something stupid like one pixel. The end result is that it -thinks- it's overlapping when creating new windows, so shoves the windows all over the place.
It's very irksome for me, because all my windows touch each other.
The only solution I've found is to make sure there are no windows up when undocking (they can be minimized) - this sorts the overview messing everything up - and to close all windows before quitting the game - this sorts things when the game opens again, because it opens all windows by default.
The only problem is if you crash

Open up S&I whilst in transit around the place, and all of a suddenly my Overview is squished to 50 Pixels high and the Selected object 20Pixels and both on the Left up corner and the S&I window in normal size bottom right connected to the other 2, argghhhhhhhh |

I agree that windows seem to have a mind of there own, and the mouse does behave a little funny not knowing where the edges of windows are. I don't close any windows and just have all the windows that I will want to use minimised at the bottom of the screen and make sure I minimize the other windows before I undock, and that way things work ok most of the time.
The only reason I could think of that a problem like this hasn't been fixed already is that moble it screws up people that are trying to macro min as well. I would like to know if that's right. |

My window positions are all fine... since several month unchanged^^ The only problematic windows are the cargo windows (cans, corp hangar, etc) and the contracts window (which for some reason does not reopen on next login). But all the rest is fine... Maybe you should not close the windows but minimize them!? This works really fine for me...

i have never, ever had this problem. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Edited by: Angelice on 24/08/2008 15:03:44 I get this problem where windows which are aligned on their right but not the same width will for some unknown reason decide to align themselves on their left sides when I change ship, relog the client and (less often but sometimes) when I merely have a session change through a gate.
It's probably easier to draw a picture to explain this, imagine the following as three pinned windows set up on the right hand side of my screen. As you can see they line up on the right (just about... it's harder than I thought to line them up on the forum ^^):
|===| ..|==| ....|=|
Now for some reason they sometimes "jump" and align themselves like this:
|===| |==|.. |=|....
It sounds minor but it can be really annoying sometimes, especially in the heat of a mission or PvP battle (rare but can happen). Most of all though it's just frustrating having to set it back each time.
Strangely this only seems to happen to me with windows aligned to the right like that so I assume it has something to do with the window snap defaults that set preferance to aligning on the left. Angelice Infinity Enterprises

I guess that then makes it not a problem, or everyone can just use VB to fix it and leave CCP alone. afterall we are all programmers, and if you don't have this particular issue then it surely does not exist.

CLear your cache, then when you open a window pin it, then unpin it.
It should behave properly after that. -------------------------------------------------

Not it isn't, people should be encouraged to get out in low sec space, but never forced to do so.

Yes it should. Doesn't though. At least not for me.
