If you're on the (overwhelmingly) winning side, most likely. What kind of a question is this ? Seriously ?

I'm thinking about doing fleetwars, getting kind of bored on missions...
Anyways, is fleetwars viable as an ISK source, or will I just lose a ton of isk and have to go back to missions? I'm currently flying a Raven, if that matters...
Would I be better off joining a fleetwars corp, or joining a pirate corp (for fun), or doing more missions as a team in my current corp? Which pays the best, and which is the most fun and exciting?
Also which side is the overwhelmingly winning side? |

I point you back to Akita's reply. That really sums it up. |

The one that destroys most of the enemy's ships without losing too many of their own in the process. Come on, it's like you're not even trying.

PVP is usually a losing proposition. Your chances of losing your ship are much bigger than in PVE, and your chances to loot are much smaller. In "fleetwars" as you call them, you will have to follow the orders of the fleet commander, and he will probably never say "OK, everyone stop, Xap Starfire you go loot." The action is too frantic, rarely does anyone have time to stop and loot.
It's unlikely that you'll get into "fleetwars", too. Getting into one of the big alliances that does that sort of thing isn't as easy as you seem to think. |

Whoops, I meant militia wars. Is militia wars profitable? |

Yes, it's very profitable!!
You'll be in a ship and you'll be shooting the 100-man Caldari blobs that pass through every 2 minutes, and you'll be red to them and they'll be red to you (war enemies), but they will absolutely stop and let you loot if they see you busy doing that.
All you have to do is say in Local "Gusy, stop, I r loots, 5 min k?" and they will leave you alone. |

Would it be worth it to hop in a salvaging destroyer and hope nobody shoots me? :))) |

Maybe...
Most of the systems where the Militia fighting is taking place are lowsec (piracy, gatecamps, the works). There may be a few high-sec contested systems, though. |

For the OP: If you like combat, most profitable is missioning, most fun is probably pirating. If you do not like combat, then most profitable is probably trading.

Militia fighting can happen anywhere. The systems they fight over are all low sec however. I did try to use a velator with a salvager etc to loot from both factions. Might be profitable if you find enough items drifting about. |

Hey, would it be possible to NOT join militia wars (so you're not a red target for anybody) and ninja salvage the militia wars battles? Would that be profitable? |

You'd have to be very careful to dodge pirates and FW players who want to get the loot themselves but actually that's a very good idea. |

Well, if you don't plan on fighting (which seems to be the case) then there's little point in giving half of the players the rights to shoot you, and the other half the right to be annoyed that you're not helping...
As for profitable - still probably not. Most people taking part in faction warfare will be using fairly cheap setups (it's generally considered a nice way for inexperienced PvPers to get used to the pew-pew), and they'll be over-represented in the ships that go pop anyway. Add to this the fact that you need to find where big battles have taken place, and then get the loot and salvage and get out in one piece... it's a losing proposition really. |

Xap, you would make more profit training up probing skills and finding other peoples missions to salvage. |
