say u start a skill at level 1 then your computer gets stolen and a month later your skill is at level 5 and nearly finished it has started level 2 level 3 and level 4 level 5 by its self without u having to worry that your going to miss out
automatic training would not need anything online and would be extremely helpful to those on the road a lot.
if added perhaps add this. and when *if that skill finishs level 5 it could just go on to the next skill on list.

It gives people an excuse not to log on. That is inherently bad for a game. You shouldn't give people a reason to log on less. It's already possible to keep your character training with only logging in for a few seconds a day. How much easier do you want it?

there needs to be a way that you can change skills if you are not around a PC that has eve instaled ie work or school where you have internet access but can't just install games

I think there definitely ought to be something on the character selection screen to let you access training. Sure, you only lose a few minutes or so by stopping training on one character and starting training on another, but I'm more concerned with the interface doing more. As it is, the character selection screen could do with being scaled back so you can pick your character from much smaller tabs, and then you could actually fit today's news in underneath without obscuring one of them

Why is it bad for a game? Logging on for just a few seconds to change a skill is a waste, with auto-training or skill queing, it'll make it so that when you log on it'll be to PLAY THE GAME....what a concept huh?....rather than just switch between skills.
It may just be me but the point of a game is to PLAY right?

Surely the solution would be to allow you to stack say 3 skills so that once the current one had finished the next one would auto start. That way you can keep your skills up but also players would still need to login to maintain their skills. As an example going away for a weekend causes problems where you could have several hours or a day where your skills are stagnating. not fair when you arent able to constantly login to monitor your skill progress. This will allow at least one or 2 additional skills to upgrade in a period when you werent able to access eve

One neat option would be "Autotrain quickest", quick button for training the skill with lowest completion time. And continuation of course, so that autotrainer takes next one after finishing the first.

Why not all macros for everything we want to do but can't be bothered with?

The biggest problem for AFK everything is mainly the EBAY chars. Companys can now own 100s of accounts and dont even have to hire 100 mexicans u play em. THey would just make one char and the game will develop him in a matter of months.
Auto skill training will make it easier for those large companys to make ****loads off EVE. Which is definatly wrong.

anything will be abused their are always die hard that take advantage but sometimes u just got to look past them they want to do that the person that buys the account will be happy so who cares like mabby a weekly fee of like 500k isk to keep it going or what not.

I'm pretty sure the reasons ccp didnt do this involve the argument of people to at least log on to the server to keep em active, as well as the EBAY macro issues.
Before EVE I've also played Ultima Online a.o. In UO, a few years back, a guy was caught (RL) using about 40 computers to gain macro-ed resources he sold on EBAY.
It was determined he had been doing this for a long time, making an average income that exceeded 60.000 USD a year with nearly NO need ofr actual manual intervention other then setting up EBAY lots.
Of course, even tho it concerned bits and bytes instead of real possesions, the guy ended up being dragged into court and tried.
While doing this, he and others like hiim utterly ruined the UP shards'economy, resulting in amny players elaving because of incredible ingame inflation making it impossible for them to gain ingame items without playing alot or buying gold on ebay.
This is what is wrong with ebaying ingame stuff. You help ruin the game in the long run...
Now I'll not be very suprised when this thread gets locked for discussing macro's, Ebay and other stuff now. Suffice to say the idea of automating tasks part of making isk is not a good one. _______________________________________________

I see another problem with this, an economic issue for CCP. Since skills can train when youre unsubbed, people would just get lots of accounts, set to autotrain, unsub, come back 6 months later, voila! instant BS pilots.
That being said, being able to queue maybe 1 skill would be a good thing IMO. Accessing/switchig skills outside of the game would be cool, too. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

You are comparing past examples using ingame valuables, whereas the skills that your characters train do not affect the EVE economy whatsoever. Even if you macro-up a character to sell in 6 months, that 6 months of training does not affect the market. No matter who buys/sells the character, they still have to obtain items to fit on that chaarcter, and they still have to pay a monthlyy fee for the account that character is on.
IMO the concept that macro'ed characters would somehow inflate the EVE economy, doesn't make much sense to me.

Plus you need to buy the skill packs to be able to train them..
