Yes, I've tried it. It's very good value I think.
Your character can have quite a large variety of weapons, horses and armour, and you and any npcs you recruit do battle against hostile npcs of various types.
No magic, no monsters, just normal human vs human combat. Lance people off their horses, axe horses out from under others, club people to take them prisoner, shoot them with longbows etc.
It's a good fun game, and there are a huge amount of mods available for it. |

Yea, I love the game. I definately recommend it. I 1st played as a mounted lancing kind of character, but it really comes into it's own when you're on the ground in braveheart style battles ;).
The basic gyst is that you're a general of an army. There's the standard mideval units, archers, ground melee, mounted archers, mounted melee.
You have stats as a player, and a series of skills that effect you and/or your army.
In combat you play with an oblivion style combat system, and you get to control your army. Move them into position, and control their modes.
You move around a map acquiring heroes/units. Join a faction, conquer the others. I haven't played since the latest patch but I believe they worked out sieging, it used to be pretty silly.
Also the game has been releasing in small patches from time to time, so it's not quite a finished product as yet. Although I think they officially announced v1.0 is just about done. |

I played it for a few days and was pretty impressed by the horse combat, like lancing people off theirs or running down fleeing men 
Attacking towns and such wasnt all that impressive just endless hordes of men running around in circles but hopefully the AI's been improved a bit since I played (it was 6 months or so ago) |
