Just once.
I quit. I went back to WoW and did the raidraidraid thing some more.
But after Eve WoW felt like an MMO on rails - so I came back. I'm still annoyed that I should be at 15M SP with my main but I'm just now getting to 12 'cause of the time I was away. |

Three times. The first time was the longest since I got back into Asheron's Call 1 real hard and just couldn't seem to stop playing it no matter how hard I tried.
The other two times were just for a couple months each and due to RL issues. |

I took about a 4 month hiatus from playing after my previous two alliances either suffered from internal issues or decided to go in a direction that I didn't want to. I'm still not back full-steam but hopefully will be soon.

I havent quit once yet in nearly 4 years.
However, I am closely watching for the outcome of changes to wardecs. The single thing keeping me paying my subs is the non-consensual pvp uniqueness. If that dies, EVE loses its uniqueness, and I would probably use all my stuff up and quit. |

eve is a drug and no matter how many times you quit you will always come back. i made a trail back in 2005 and couldn't get my hands on a gtc so i went back to guild wars and FFXI then came back here after i got bored with ffxi. |

Once ... so far ;-)
I quit 8 months ago partly because I objected to Trinity - too many drone nerfs, no marauder for drone users, and too much time spent on new graphics engine, which not everyone can use, when there are many, many bugs affecting everyone that could have been fixed instead - and party for RL reasons.
If I get the impression that the impression that too much developer time is being spent on, in my opinion, completely useless stuff like walking around stations, instead of bug-fixing, I may leave again.

I've only quit once. But I did it properly, I sold my toon, gave away my isk and remaining assests and stayed away for nearly 2 years.
Then I moved 650 miles to a new place, got bored one day and decided to "check out that game again", that was nearly 10 months ago and I'll never do it again. Even if I decide I need a break I'll keep my sub going and my training until I'm ready to come back.

Only cancelled my sub twice, once for a couple of months, once for six months. Probably won't again. I always used to flip between obsessive playing and not playing at all, that will always lead to quitting. These days I hover around a more sensible medium, and won't do myself out of needed free time or six months worth of SP again. |

Started when EVE came out, May 2003
Quit after about a year, sold my account on eBay (when it was legal) as I was failing college...
I don't play for 2 years.
2006 comes, I decide to return to EVE for the new RMR expansion. OMG had everything changed... I opted this time to PvP (as opposed to sitting in hi-sec mining my whole e-life ). I had some great fun.
Revelations come out, along with WTZ and Nanophoons. After my Crusader gets chased down, NOS'd dry and blown up by a Dominix I'm left speechless and just stop playing altogether, stopping my sub somewhere along the line.
Come back briefly at some point mid-07 and farm L4s till I have 2Bil ISK. Get bored again, stop playing and give away my main.
Post on EVE-O for a few months whilst not actually playing the game, eventually decide to play again and join a new corp altogether - have some of the best fun I've ever had in EVE, and although I'm not playing much ATM I don't think I'll be quitting again for a while
So, uh, 3 times ? |

I have left twice, the first time over real life, the 2nd time trying to find a new MMO to play, and found out very quickly that after eve, most other MMO's seem a bit lacking, or maybe they dont lack anything and have way more xp grind then I like im not sure. |

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 20/08/2008 00:27:21 There were a bunch of times just after I started playing where I was left totally bankrupt following the destruction of my ship (usually a barge.) Sometimes I promised never to log in again, but after a cooling off period I always did. Remember there was no salvage at that time, and I didn't have the skills to take on high-bounty rats, so building a wallet into the low millions needed for a barge or cruiser was always rather arduous for me. I also flew what I couldn't afford to lose way too often. I figured that if the game made me feel so heated it probably wasn't for me... until I accepted that it was my own decisions that were causing all the trouble and not the game itself.
The only time I ever actually "quit" was during the winter of 06/07, which was due more to an intense amount of stress in real life generated by my work schedule and my failure to have been accepted into grad school that year (in my defense most anthropology grad programs only take a minute handful of new people each semester.) My account was still paid for but unfortunately I had no skill training for most of that time. It was about mid-way through 2007 when I really started to get immersed in the game again, and also when I started posting on the forum. Speaking of which I'm stranded in Dublin Airport for another like seven hours until my flight leaves, and I'll be subjecting you all to my posting as long as the laptop battery holds out (come on cleaning crew finish up around the like one free outlet in this place already.) |

I've only ever really quit once and that was due to RL stuff. Played WoW during part of that time and saw some pretty gfx but not much else in the way of really good game play. That was probably about 2 1/2 months total time away.
I've also had minor breaks here and there of a week or two over the 3 years I have been playing, but thats not really quiting. |
