Hi everyone
Trawling through the messages in this forum, I've had the same problem as many - I've tried to patch to 1077, which bombs out halfway through, meaning I can't run Eve *AT ALL*. In fact, I've now been unable to run Eve for nearly 2 days now.
I've downloaded the 19mb patch four (4) times from different sources - no fun via a 56k modem believe me - with the same same installation errors each time (CRC, or "file does not exist to patch").
I've reinstalled Eve 5+ times, then and even the live update patch fails each time, again from different locations just to be sure.
Finally, I've even wiped my HD and reinstalled XP from scratch. Makes no difference - same problems.
Can someone from the Eve team please comment on this, as at present I (and I suspect others posting to this forum) now have a game we cannot run at all, and I'm obviously paying by the day for this, which I'm not pleased about.
If there is a fix please can it be posted here ASAP, and also emailed to me at [email protected].
Thanks Maximo

When the patcher fails with a checksum error, please take note of the file it is patching.
Then go to http://eve.skjalfti.is/stuff/ and download a new version of that file from there. Unzip the file into your client folder and apply the patch again.

Thanks for this - I sussed out the same "fix" pretty soon after I posed my plea, and I've been running Eve problem-free for the last 5 hours :-)
Thanks again Maximo

Well I bought the game 2 days ago and have gotten to play for about 7 hours total. At the end of that time my game crashed. I went to go back on and I was ata black screen??? I then hit escape and change the resolution just to see what would happen. Then i was given my character main menu on the side but the right side of the screen was filled with a rotating head and a DNA strand??
I petitioned and they tried to move my character to a space station. Well they did and after I relogged on I noticed I had no ship! I did notice that my perspective was 1st person as if I was the ship or the pilot. Then several error messages appeared "bad build res/station..." couldnt exit the station or do anything. Game was hosed, I reinstalled the game since I thought my files were corrupt somehow. Well now the patch wont verify so I cannot log back in. ARG!!
I know this is the first launch but cheez. I have played for 7 hours and now I can just look at the box. I shouldnt have to continually tweek this setting or try this thing to make the game work. Also I know about the patch server download I can do outside the game but why should I do that if I have a patcher in the login screen.
With all of these work arounds and duck tape type fixes I dont think this game will survive the bad press. I was hoping to play a space online game and drop my Dark age account but I never had such problems with that game at all and I was in the beta for a short time too.....
Ok I am still mad but thanks for letting me vent..... :)

I have been unable to play on my machine at home. I will CTD even if I stay in station, and do nothing. All my graphics are messed up with the portraits looking like Picasso's work. The vertices are going in random directions, and I usually will bluescreen shortly thereafter...
I thought it was something to do with my video card, possibly overheating or a driver issue. It works fine in other games, and behaves the same even after installing the latest drivers. I have also reinstalled Eve many times, and this does not help either.
I will try reinstalling the OS tonight. Maybe after bluescreening so much there is garbage in Windows itself that needs to be taken care of...
I have also emailed technical about this, including detailed logs. What is strange, is that it works fine at work.
