It's been a long time since I've read the stories behind EVE, but I know the EVE gate was originally connected to the Milky Way.
This got me thinking, how far across the Universe did this gate jump Earth's population? And without the gate, how long would it take to get their using just a warp-drive? (if at all feasible)
Reason I ponder these things is because I still dream of seeing Earth the way it is now, in the EVE universe. I want to mine Orion's belt and setup PI structures on Mars.

Turns out New Eden IS the Milky Way Galaxy, in some parallel Universe.

We have both lore on New Eden being in a seperate galaxy and we have the bright star event in YC 109 which - if interpreted as collapse of the eve gate - puts us into the milky way (~15k ly between New Eden and the other side of the eve gate; milky way is >100k ly in diameter). |

The initial jump through the EVE Gate wasn't just taking an earlier existence of Earth's population to a new galaxy, it was connecting one Universe to another. BUM BUM BUMMMM. No, that's not true. But I bet you crapped your pants.

I would hope so, Andromeda is over 2,000,000 ly from us. (2.5 I think)

WH do connect 2 points in space-time. To prevent paradoxes the connection distance has to be at least the same amount in ly then in y. That being said, it could very well be that we are a few billion years in the future. How would you travel back in that case?
The game has a tutorial that gives you a mining laser and a railgun and tells you to go shoot rocks and red crosses. It teaches you nothing else. It's been that way for 8 years, so are you really surprised that there are people who aren't aware that this is a pvp game? --Jafit McJafitson |

I think I'd need to re-watch Hawking's "into the Universe" to figure that out.
