We've all seen hundreds of windows in a hull of a BS. One wonders: does that mean there is a crew? From one point of view, there is no need for a crew, as a computer may do everything for them. Then again- why are there windows if that is the case? --------------

I seem to recall at time where the ship info listed the number of crew. That got removed at some point, just as the extensive information that used the exist on planets.
Although the storyline points to the Jovian capsule technology as the reason why you can fly ships solo, I prefer to imagine a crew piloting any vessel larger than a frigate.

from what i've read of the current literature, there are indeed crews, but a command crew is not needed thanks to the Jovian capsule. i'm assuming there are still "crew members" to deal with the cargo, to maintain the engines and other ship's systems, as well as look out all the windows and say "oooooooh..."

If y'read the story 'Jovian Wet-grave' in the World of EVE section, it will indicate that frigates can be flown by only the pilot/captain, but that other classes of vessel still need a crew of some sort.

I would think Minmatar ships especially need large crews to run the giant hamster wheel that powers the ship.

The story of the Bountyhunters (introduction to POSs) mentions hundreds of crew members. Guess they need people for moving cargo, and do what a robot can't do. They need power and cpu to function, so a damaged ship might work schite if humans are not there to make mistakes :)
Here's something which can be used as a hint to crew size.
