Right now i am ratting in a Typhoon (4x arby sieges/3x 650mm acs)
But it seems that moving around form belt to belt and approaching to rats that are 70km away takes more time then killing stuff So i thought of getting something faster moving
the options i have thought of Hurri just BC & HU 5 is missing Sacrilege or Cerb (both ham fit) HAC + cruiser skill needed Mael with 1200mm IIs ???? L Proj V + arty spec s&m IV needed Skilling time would be nearly the same on all so with what would i increase my isk/h ratio (drake and raven are a nono)?

Have you thought of going for a long range setup instead of short range: swap the seige launchers for cruise and the ACs for Arties? |

If you have decent drone skills I'd go
4x Cruise 2-3x Arty 1-2x Drone Links
Cap rechargers/target painters/whatever
LAR, 2-3x hards, 3x BCU, 0-1x gyrostab
5x sentry drones 5x whatever for killing frigs
Don't bother about an AB or MWD |

Edited by: Bulletproof Cupid on 21/08/2008 17:09:17 Cerberus without a doubt, it will rip thru guristas, and it is almost already tanked against them.
High slots:- 5x Arbalest Ham, 1x cloak
Med slots:- MWD, Dread guristas large shield booster (Nice to have and not that expensive @ about 30m) 2x kinetic deflection amplifier 2, 1x heat dissipation amplifier 2.
Low slots:- 3x Ballistic control 2. 1x reactor control unit 2.
308 dps with my crappy missile skills and no rigs. This doesnt sound amazing but its pure kinetic damage (that guristas are weakest to) and will speed thru them.
You will have about 88% resist to kinetic and thermal damage that guristas do.
If you feel safe you can swap the cloak for a salvager.
MWD will mean you can do 1500m/s to loot wrecks

tempest with 6*800mm t2
Rigs 3*ambit extensions Falloff almost 25-30km.
U can start shooting when you "land" in the belt while approaching, you dont have to wait for approaching. You start dealing damage as soon as you see the rats. Then you approach, before first BS is down you should be at 15km away, dealing FULL dmg.
ACs dps outclasses arties.
Use vespas II for frigs. We all got speed tickets. Now we must comply with the law (the physic's law) |

this pretty much. Phoon is a great ship.
I have no experience ratting guristas. I have ratted angels though. For that i had 4 cruise, heavy neut, DLA, tractor, salvager. One can also use heavy or medium tech II drones as opposed to sentries. however, i would still fit an ab or mwd, and you may need a little more tank and cap in the lows, less gank. If you have an alt picking up the loot and salvage, no need for the tractor in the high.
have a flight of light ecm drones in the dronebay. And even though you should always be monitoring the intel channels and watching local, those ecm drones and a heavy neut might get you out of a gank if you missed the warning signs

Well, biggest problem for me with Guristas is when they jam you. (Which can get particularly annoying if you get a good chain going with high grade support)
For that reason I refuse to use any turrets/missiles at all. I use Ishtar - With my skills locks to 93km, Wardens shoot out to 91km. Double target painter, omni tracking mod, sensor booster, cloak, drone range aug, and double sentry rigs. Easy mode natural res armor tank & CPU processor to make it all fit.
Double painter is godly for sentries, makes those cruisers @ 18-25 the size of BC/BS. Warp to 70-100km. Never need to move, never need to dock, never run out of ammo, jammed? so f-ing what. Happy days
EDIT: Oh yes, and tank does not need to be cap stable. They rarely penetrate through to armor even though thats my tank. Also at that range 1 BS is usually down before its torps/cruises have even reached you.

Remember Arblets used to cost 20million and before that only used to drop from concord X4 Arblest are perfect for PvE belt ratting. I Fit this for Belt ratting:
Large Armor Repairer II Armor EM Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I Ballistic Control System II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Quad LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Dual 425mm AutoCannon II,EMP L Dual 425mm AutoCannon II,EMP L Dual 425mm AutoCannon II,EMP L Dual 425mm AutoCannon II,EMP L 'Arbalest' Siege Missile Launcher,Mjolnir Torpedo 'Arbalest' Siege Missile Launcher,Mjolnir Torpedo 'Arbalest' Siege Missile Launcher,Mjolnir Torpedo 'Arbalest' Siege Missile Launcher,Mjolnir Torpedo
There is enough cap to travel 80'kms you can change the Ballistic controll system for a Wcs for ultimate ratting, with good skills it deals more damage than a ranged sniper with three damage mods however you get to loot on the spot. There so cheap its most definatly my most ultimate belt ratter, very cheap to outfit and buy, practically pay for its self within 2-3 hours.

Interesting thread...but my question is: Raven > all?
Basically, which of these ships (if any) rats Guristas faster/more effeciently than a cruise Raven?
I was toying w/ the idea of a cruise/arty/sentry Phoon, but I'd like to hear other's experience before training for Minnie BSes.

Don't ever seriously train for matar BSs. ESPECIALLY for PvE. I'm guessing it would be a somewhat draw between the raven, rokh, mega, and domi... all spitting about the same DPS at the same-ish ranges.
But even then, rails (or rails + t2 sentries in the domi's and mega's case) would take far longer to train than cruise missiles 5.

If your ratting, use a BS - You need to deal max dmg.
If your ratting against Gur rats, use Caldari ships (if poss). They have an inbuilt tank for the damage and a bonus against thy're main dmg type (Kinetic)
If you can field a T2 Raven, with decent skills you dont even need an Shield booster
