So this time I was sure to pay my bills the second I got them and ensured that the job in the slot was running for a VERY long time so as not to be inactive the second the rent came due or anything...
...so I log in today and boom! No more research slot!
I can't tell you what a pleasure and a joy it is to be unable to do the one thing that you want to do in this @#$)(@#$ game because of a combination of WAY too few resources for the number of players and REALLY annoying bugs and total unwillingness on the part of the CCP team to do anything to help me recoup for losses relatded to them.
Really great.
Thanks so much.

Careful giving Eve's customer support too much flak or they might turn to EverQuest's methods.

I stopped playing for a few months for this very reason. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea how every single other player in Eve keeps their research labs. I really wish I knew, really.
I can no longer hold onto 1 single factory slot. Took me a month to find one close to my minerals, and I don't think the 3 days was up before it just dissapeared with NO email, NO refund, NO nothing, just dissapeared leaving my minerals and BP in a heap on my station floor.
When I was caused to stop playing several months ago, it took me 3 months to assemble 3 research labs at a station that I actually had an office at. After a patch they ALL just unrented spitting ALL my BP's out, never to see another research lab up for rent EVER again.
This, forcing me back into empire space to endlessly roam it and hope that someone else gets screwed over and I am lucky enough to benifit from their misfortune and get ONE research lab for ONLY three days NO matter what I do to try to hold onto it to just stick a few more lvls of ME or PE on one of my several, several, now, useless BP's.
I am told I am just "unlucky," that's not luck... its a completely broken aspect of the game, that I spent over a year training to be a scientist about...
I am now a bored mission doer... ex-(really bored)miner and ex-(really really bored) rat hunter with nothing but serious millions of wasted scientist skill points. I trudge on training skills and logging once in a while doing missions in hopes that some day I may do scientist stuff.

The situation needs to be resolved, and I don't believe the price increases described will do that. Why? Because research was designed to take a very long time. That is the root issue. In order to accomplish anything, it takes days of research. Merely improving a frigate BP by one level takes a full day with Metallurgy or Research 5. Actually building the frigate only takes a couple of hours. That's why jacking factory prices worked - people can build everything they need to in a single cycle, and don't have to keep a slot occupied.
Slow research model + paucity of facilities = camped labs. All the price increase will do is skew lab ownership towards megacorps who can afford to continue sitting on theirs. Pricing changes will have some effect, but not the effect predicted. Price is not the issue. The issue is that the research model is "slap a BP in and wait a very long time for results."
Don't feel too bad man. At one time, I had six labs operating at the same station. I moved my corp's HQ there to take advantage of it, Now I'm down to three due to necessity of having a BP being worked on at the instant the rent comes due. And my character was made for research - 3.5 of my 9.8 million skill points are in Science. It's no wonder I make all my money running agent missions these days. - - - -
I have measured and described the stars, their great and countless multitude. What man has seen their revolutions and entrances? Not even the angels see their number, yet I have recorded all their names.

We won't talk about how many cruisers I lost this weekend, nor how many nice railguns, or T2 enhancers. We're going to skip right over that. We're going to talk about my new Raven. It is like flying a small city, and the city's only export is missiles.

Well, when I use to get an email that I lose my slots because of "no use", it made ABSOLUTELY 100% of NO sense... The game HAD to spit out my BP's to unrent them from me... with an email saying I had not used my slot in three days. |

if you think this game is that bad. try playing swg, or worst nepcron. there instead of fixing the CTD that 90% of the people have 1-9 time a da, they added a button to the login so you can quickly get back to the last charater you had.

Err - maybe you didn't pay your bill?
took me days to find out that the little arrow on the right of the bill is used for the paying... |

Nope, there are several instances of it happening now.
Including the mass loss of 5 labs in one station at one time.

I paid my bills the second I got them..... I've tried paying them ONLY on the day they are due.. I've tried paying them 1-2 days ahead... nothing works... nothing!

I've never even seen a lab slot, so I'm no expert, but have you tried opening the lab window at least once a day to check progress on the research? That might count as activity and keep you from loosing them. (I assume it's similar to a factory in that is shows progress of the active job)

when you rent your slot, the first you do, is to make 1 single run, that finishes... copy the BP, or research 1 ME level. When it has completed, then you can set a longtime research.
