Can anyone advise me how I can change my very high caldari standings to something a lot lower so that I can switch over to gallente missions without having to pay for standing gains? I have heard about using Sisters of Eve npc corp and grinding missions for them since they have agents available in all 4x main faction/regions? any truth in that?

If your Gallente standing is still not too bad, you can train Diplomacy (I'd go up to V to save grinding time.)
If that doesn't work, open up the show info for the Gallente faction and find factions that are friendly to them. The higher the Gallente hold them, the faster your derived standings gain. For the Gallente your choices would be Minmatar agents or the Sisters of EVE.
The higher your Social level, the faster you'll gain the standing as well. Another thing I'd recommend to train to V to save grinding time.

Thats what I thought, Sisters of Eve in a minni region. thanks. Diplomacy is a no go, i already have very high missioning skills.

my prob is the opposite wanna gain standings with caldari aas have high gallente and want to move back to caldari space any ideas who to go to ?

The same process applies to any two factions. You either need to bury your gallente standings (and as a result, gain derived standings with gallente's enemies) or gain standings with a friend of the state, and thus gain derived standings.
So, look at Caldari State's 'Show Info' Page. You have two pertinent tabs:
"Likes" and "Dislikes"
If you gain standings with someone the State likes, you also gain standings with the state, on a smaller scale. If you lose standings with someone the state dislikes, you in turn gain a small amount of standings with the state.
The amount that the state likes another faction will affect how much derived standings you get. You'll propagate more derived standings from a +9.0 relationship than a +1.0 relationship.
Also note that we're talking about standings at the FACTION level, not CORP. Only storyline missions will cause faction standings to change and propagate derived standings.

NO!
There is only one option, the latter of the two that you suggest.
Standings loses do not cause derived gains. Tanking your Gallente standings will not make Caldari trust you.
If you want to build faction standings, you need to work for that faction or one of their allies.
If you can't find a way to work for that faction or its allies (either missions or faction warfare) then you are out of luck.
