The idea is potentially be able to extract moon goo materials from roids.

getting 10 or so of your friends, using some form of scanning interface to mine moon minerals.
he said he would rather give the moon minerals out that way then some alliance going to an atm machine and getting it that way. |

Like Linda said, sounds like mining is going to encourage groups working together to capitalize on asteroid belts, and there will be an exploration element in which someone that's good at scanning can help by finding hidden gems (moon minerals).
No real details though. Mostly just encourage fleet mining, something about scanning through belts, and moon minerals. |

That was a proposed ring mining system. Several pilots could fleet up and mine moon minerals from planetary rings. Its not clear how far in the future that feature will be.
Current mining: Nothing was said.

I wonder if ring mining will be a low/nullsec activity exclusively, or they'll distribute a small amount in highsec too. I wouldn't be surprised if it's <0.4 only, but at the same time that keeps the moon goo under control of many of the same groups. |

i'm guessing it will be in highsec as well, but in less quantities
it sounds like the idea is have a few guys searching and others mining the rocks itself with a bunch of worthless roids in between
i'm guessing null will have more, wormhole lots as well
lowsec lots and some in highsec. this means anyone can get the moon goo which is a good thing, but players in higher risk areas have more access too it. |

So lets say you have everything else but tech but what if you could get enough tech to make components to a few cruisers or even BS's from it ?
Even that small amount alone combined from all regions would likely crash the currently monopolized high end moongoo market. |

Yes, it looks to be a supplemental source of moon goo, but I suspect that like drone drops, it will do lovely things to the price of moon goo.
