The Day That Never Comes.
It's no Master of Puppets, but it's not bad. What do y'all think?

I'm torn between wanting to love it and hatred for the whiny ***** act that Metallica has been using for the past 5 or so years.

Being a pansy is not metal, and if it is not metal... well you know how it goes.

Talk to me about Judas Priest.
Their two latest albums makes me shed little emo-tears.

You've obviously never seen them live then. Live, they still kick ass, but it would be better if they had more recent material.
Still, I don't know any band that can compete against them with their greatest act against Master, even performed today, twenty-something years on.
No, Dethklok doesn't count.

Metallica should stop doing producing new stuff. How about they start covering beach boys tracks and "surfing" music.

Sorry you just made me think of the worst ''metal'' song ever:

Most funny thing is cof fans will defend it should send our forum trolls to youtube to abuse the children (in a nice way, nothing gary glitterish) there...

I have, and it's even on VHS! That tape sits at the bottom of the bookshelf labeled DO NOT WATCH!. It's a live show from texas with craptesticular effects such as one little fireball firing off.
The stage was huge, too huge, the crowd was sitting......SITTING. He always grabbed a stool for the darker (emo) type songs and ruined many others although fuel didn't turn out half bad.
All in all watching it I could feel the torture those poor souls in the rows were enduring. After it was over I took a moment to collect myself then made a vow to never watch that tape again. In fact if anyone wants it, shoot me a eve-mail in game with an addy and I'll just mail it to ya free of charge.

Very solid effort, Cyanide is even better, and the album is shaping up nicely.

I can remember playing my Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets tapes until they wore out when I was a kid, I even loved ...And Justice For All
There were other songs I liked on the following albums as well but most of them sucked overall (S&M wtf?) and then the napster thing.
Metallica are really a bunch of corporate musician ********s and I'm sorry I ever gave them a penny, if I had known what they were like when first heard them I would never have bought any of their stuff.
I think The Day That Never Comes sounds like are losing market share and trying to reposition themselves, it just sounds like corporate music to my ears.

I will always prefer the Master of Puppets era of Metallica. I never really cared for anything they did after, although Justice was good it's not as good as Puppets. I can't comment on the new album because I am at work so I hope it's decent.
Having said that, Metallica of today just doesn't do it for me. I like that they got the guy from Suicidal Tendencies as their bassist though because he looks metal, especially the way he plays bass :). But I don't get excited about hearing of a new Metallica album like I would about a new Tool album.
Speaking of Tool....any rumors on when they will be releasing a new album? Now that is an interesting band to see live let me tell ya.

I do not dispise them for experimenting with their music. Yes, the new stuff definately sounds like throw back Metallica; but they lost all opportunities to **** my wallet, for life, with the Napster ordeal.

Sounds like something from Fuel or Reload.
St. Anger would've been fine if they hadn't gone with the 'garage sound' or whatever that nightmare was.
In the end, Metallica's guys are getting old and letting their age get to them.

To me, it just didn't sound like Metallica. I can't believe I'm saying this, but even Reload had (barely) enough holdovers from previous albums to be recognizably Metallica.
The song might end up being decent after I get past my initial "WTF...this doesn't sound like Metallica" reaction. Time will tell. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I just contributed absolutely nothing to this thread!" |
