Edited by: Vancali on 22/08/2008 18:00:27 Correct me if I'm wrong, but ages ago when I made my first corp I seem to remember that you could make a corp at one station and then move that corp HQ (the free slot where people could see your corp but you wouldn't have an office) to any other station. This action would remove your first office/hq/whatever and transfer it to the station of your choice.
Problem is, now I try to "Move HQ Here" and I get a message saying:
"Your corporation's HQ cannot be relocated to this station as it owns no real estate here. In order to relocate your corporation's HQ here, it must own the station or an office in the station."
Is this due to volume of certain stations or is this EVE-wide? I really don't want to have my HQ 13-14 jumps from where I plan to set up camp. Thanks for the help.

They probably made the change when they made changes to the number of offices, number of factories, number of labs that each empire station had.
Having your HQ far away is sometimes a bonus. The location of your HQ is visible in your corp's info, any enemy can see it. They can't automatically see the location of your offices, though, and it's easy enough to tell your members where your offices are (heck, they can see it in the corp info). A remote HQ makes it harder for your enemies to track down where you are.
Although, they can see the CEO's name in the corp window and use a locator agent to see where he is. And they can also gather names from these boards and run locator agents, so it's not too much harder.

The HQ means nothing, it offers no special benefits aside from a different setting for hangar access, so there are more corporations setting their HQ well away from where they operate to not hand out the free intel via the corporate info than that actually use it. The benefits being negliable.
Should/would/could have, HAVE you chav!
