IO came back to eve a week ago after an 18 month break. The game had been working fine until yesterday when i blue screen crashed. Since then the client is crashing every hour or so almost all of the time while n deadspace complexes. I just cant figure out what changed in the past 2 days to cause this to happen.

Nvidia cards suck!, I'm currently running a 8600 GTS and I get very similiar problems as you, if I alt + tab out it just speeds up the process of crashing..
Before that I had an ATI x850 an it ran perfectly..
the 8xxx series from Nvidia had loads of driver related problems, maybe try updating your Graphics drivers, or if you are currently up-to-date, try rolling back to a previous more stable driver.
I still aint fixed my problem, so I'm just stuck in station training my character at the moment until I get the $$$ to get a new graphics card.. I can't wait to go back to ATI

Reinstall Eve Reinstall DirectX
If neither fixes the issue:
Run a system restore on your pc. It probably won't change a thing but worth a shot.
If you still have no luck reinstall windows. |

Please don't say NVIDIA cards suck - within the next two weeks I should be playing EVE with the help of an overclocked M260 and I'm going to be very disappointed indeed if it does suck even a little bit,
Yes, also wrong forum. You really should try this one for such questions in future.

hmm, that is weird
i did have a similar problem on my first trial account, i would try to do some of those "public plexes" you see in high sec sometimes (like rouge drone infestation sprout or whatever) and every time i would go through the gate, the game would lock up
but again, that was on the trial acccount
idk, im going to assume you have had EVE installed for those 18 months, so i would just reccomend reinstalling it

Nvidia cards are perfectly fine. I dual and triple client with my 8600 GTS (with up-to-date drivers) and it has yet to fail me
once. From the sound of things, the pc in question is a couple years old. If that were the case, I would run some maintenance
things, (Defrag, Disk Cleanup, etc.) most people tend to go too long without cleaning their pc up. I would also recommend using a
fresh install, playing on and off for such large amounts of time is bound to pick up a bug or two. Better to have the newest client
release than one patched over for years.

Your problem can be fixed by nerfing level 4 missions in Empire.

Also, you may want to get a keyboard with a working ESC key. The last EVE patch allowed you to change some memory values, so tweaking those might help out a bit. I'd probably suggest turning them down slightly to see what happens.

Run X86 memtest.
I would hazzard an educated guess that you have a bad Memory block towards the upper limit of your RAM. Vote against the nano nerf! http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=832371
