It's simply not playable as a game at the moment.
I'm in a system with maybe 100 other people. 100. We're not even blowing the smeg out of each other, as far as I'm aware - just doing trading and other tedious activities. The lag is so bad that this no longer meets the definition of game; it's unfit for purpose.
Are CCP even aware of what the lag (latency for execution of a player command) is in a given system at a given time?
- if they are, can they please publish this information on the website so we can see it - if they are not, then why aren't they dropping everything else to be able to see what is going on inside their "game"?
GRRR.
No, nobody can have my stuff. But this is ridiculous.

I am in a system with 6 people and it takes me 20 seconds to get a module activated. Fun stuff. Since I have started it has never been this bad.

could my inability to login and switch skill be due to this lag?

Probably. Servers are borked and since its night time for the folks watching over the servers - no play time stateside today it seems.

7 pm hardly qualify as "night time" for a server operator.

Well after doing some research there isn't anyone stateside or on CCP's end can do. Problem is with London somewhere. Someone tripped over a cable or something. fun stuff. Hopefully it gets fixed today so I can make some isk to replace the BS I lost in that lag.

The game works fine for me. I think you're just stuck in an overloaded node. People like to do massive operations and to concentrate on a single system, from time to time.

You know, you bring up a rather good topic...
I personally think it would be a rather good idea for CCP to publish in-game statistics for access via the website. I would actually use a lag-o-map to see blots of red where there is lag (just like the current universe map shows hotspots for various spots - I would like to see hotspots for client lag). I am certain that lag can and is being calculated for our clients, so fetching this data every few hours or so and updating a map online would be something to look in to if it wasn't too much work for systems.
I'm sure it would be used by many people - some NEED to go to Jita, but if the system shows that there is ludacris lag, I'm sure many more would avoid it rather than go in to see how the lag is (because you're never sure unless someone there tells you how it is).
Could in fact help reduce lag a bit - who knows... at least be cool to look at so you can see the hotspots in the universe (and if CCP doesn't have this info already, be useful for them too).

trace IP... it's in London, maybe they are upgrading their hardware, maybe everybody's browsing UK servers and the rest of the world gets enormous lag in EVE
