In reading the new shiva info that our lovely Devs posted ( no serious guys ) its looking like we will be able to get our hands on faction ships?
in furthing readins about the 'dungeon' scenarios, it looks like some of the 'prizes' might be a captured faction ship? also it looks like we will be able to raid npc corp/pirate corp bases. this sounds like we could get our hands on some things they are making? and what if its a research lab at one of these bases? will there be a chance of getting our hands on some of their BP they are working on?
sitting here, pontificatign the idea of this is most interesting. knowing CCP im sure they wont just hand us Sanshas Mutant Lords or Tyrant Class ships, but it looks like they might be making it an option for us to pound the crap otta places at super high risk, in hops of getting one of these. and how are skills for flying these going to be implimented if we are infact able to obtain them? surely the skill to fly angel or sanshas ships wont be on the open market? and if they are relationship based( faction standing) will that mean that we can start doing agent missions for these pirate corps? and if this happens will they not shoot you after a certain level? give you technology? skills? ships?
i honestly would like to see this happen. most of these entities have been in game for..a very long time now. why not allow us to fly them ( finaly).
personally i would like to have a Sanshas ship, as they are by far the coolest looking space pufferships around, and a nice break from all of the regular ship hulls.
all i have to say is that Shiva is looking better by the day. I cant wait.

I was reading the same thing, I think according to the Shiva page it will be possible to aquire faction ships in 3 different ways
1. Complexes 2. Agent mission BPC drops 3. Taking down NPC officers in 0.0 spawns
Personaly i would love to have a "faction" ship, although they wont be as effective as regular ships, they do have ceratin benefits. ie increased capacity and recarge rate (according to the info)
As for skills whatever race the ships belongs to ie. Sansha's Servant which are minimitar pirates would require the Minmitar skill set to be pioleted. The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is for Good Men to Do Nothing... |

I am certainly curious about the skills necessary to fly these ships, myself. After all, the different pirate factions don't necessarily line up with various races.
Specifically: Guristas are obviously Caldari. Serpentis are obviously Gallente. Bloodraiders are obviously Amarr. Sanshas, if you read the history of them, are in fact the remnants of an Amarr religious cult -- but their ships are a unique style. Do Sanshas ships require Amarr piloting skills, then, or a new Sanshas piloting skill? The same is the case with Angels -- which are a Minmatar pirate faction, but tend to fly Jove ships, if I recall correctly. Will these require Jovian piloting skills to pilot or will these require Minmatar piloting skills?
Additionally -- will the specialty faction ships all be 'normal' ships as far as skills are concerned, or are they going to be elite ships?
Lots of questions. Any devs around? ;)

What I reckon is more likely, there will be new skills, specfically to learn to fly these ships.

yeah they have more cap and better charge, but what about sanshas and angles? they clearly are not any useable entity now, but yet they are weaker?
humm...if they dont make them on par for defense well, i guess sheild or armor tanking with all that cap.

My prediction is that you will only need your own faction ship skills. Sansha and Bloods will require Amarr ship skills, Guristas with Caldari ship skills, Angels with MInmatar ship skills.
I'm not sure if you can capture a ship, unless you can board it (and abandon your ship in the process). My prediction is that single run BPCs will be dropped both by NPCs, mission agents, or found in cache containers in spawns or dungeons.
I think mission agents may also be offering single run BPCs of Navy ships, and perhaps I can assume, civilian (downgraded) versions of Concord ships?

Maybe thier ships are weaker, but hard to argue with unlimited-range missles, and missles on hulls with no missle slots _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |
