Courier contract Scam?

Malus Jynx	Posted - 2008.08.25 02:17:00 - [1] I accepted a courier contract with a large collateral, when I arrived at the destination, I was unable to dock at the station. I think it is a player owned structure, but didn't think it was possible to for them to be listed as a destination? Am I doing something wrong or is this some type of scam?

This is a generally known trick to play with courier contracts though. Basically you rely on the fact that the courier with either be killed or unable to dock and thus won't be able to complete the mission. Since you can't complete the mission you could always crack open the package and see just what they asked you to deliver.

The person who set up the contract perhaps was hoping that whoever completes it would be smart enough to check the destination first. Or they might have set it deliberately to collect your collateral. Depends on reward and items too. If reward is unusually high and items are sort of strange most likely it is a scam. However for 0.0 courier missions rewards are typically higher than for high sec empire space.

Get the autopilot route, go any way BUT that route after you accept the contract, make sure to go in the destination system the back way, collect profit and pirate tears :) ---

I smell bullshit... or perhaps someone who's never actually done a courier contract who think he knows what he's talking about. ---

You have two options when you rightclick the package: open container break package Open container allows you to look inside without breaking it. If you use the second option, you won't be able to complete the courier no matter what you try.
Agor Dirdonen	Posted - 2008.08.25 21:18:00 - [26] If you have some time to deliver the package (meaning a few days, not 24 hours), you could try the following: * Go to the nearest station where you can dock (if you're lucky, just a few jumps sometimes) * Create a courier with the courier package and make sure you limit it to the alliance owning the destination station. Sometimes, somebody will pick it up, dock in the station, complete your courier. When that happens, you can from a distance (probably same regino though) complete your original courier. This only works when you have a few days to complete the courier as your new courier contract might not be picked up immediately. By limiting it to the alliance that owns the station, it might show like a courier that is made 'intra-alliance' so someone that can dock might finish it. Lots of luck needed but could work.

I think I know who you think is the scammer here, oh my you are predictable. But then again it might not be a scam at all, because if the person accepting the contract in the first place was able to dock at the said station, then there would have been no problem. And because this is totally possible to happen courier scams are not a very good way of scamming unless you offer only little reward, at which point no-one in their right mind would accept them anyway.
