No, but CONCORD will demand some donuts if you start repping NPC pirates.

Just from an IC-perspective, if CONCORD can detect and respond to you repping the pirate, why couldn't they respond to the pirate threat themselves?

<conspiracy theory> Pirates bribe CONCORD with donuts to keep them off their backs. When a capsuleer joins the fray however, it becomes hard to keep the business under the table and they show up to save face. </conspiracy theory>

Concord are only to control pod pilots, each legal pod pilot ship is linked to a central data network. Basicly your ship tells them you are comitting a crime and giving your location.
In the case of pirate factions, they forgot to include the link to the central data network so concord cannot see them. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congrated by carebears for the actions. |

And yet, player pirates cannot simply remove this . Because they're so concerned with being legal?

You do get concorded if you rep an NPC at a belt. But you only get concorded on a session change. A session change is warping away from the gate or loosing connection and loging back in. If you stay in the belt an let the aggression timer expire nothing happens.
I've seen what happens if someone reps an NPC and has a session change. It was a nice light show.

It's stuck in a naughty place, I wouldn't remove it if I were you!
On a more serious note, perhaps it's integrated in the pod systems, so removing it would require advanced knowledge of pods?

There is a chronicle about it actually, its the same system that allows for the tranfer of consciousness after death (did you know your pod actually kills you a moment before you die?!?!?) and communication (i.e. chat channels) ______

a bigger question is if CONCORD responds to player aggro in a combat mission against, say Guristas or Blood Raiders.... why do the CONCORD ships and pirates not attack each other? they hate each other, don't they? ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
