I¦m just wondering if there are no better mining drones then the "basic mining drone" I¦v heard of "harvesters" but I can really find any on escrow.

There are 'Elite' mining drones out there, but they are uber rare. Harversters go for 1.5-2 mil each and take a long time to pay for themselves (if they are not destroyed first, which they usually are). Stick to the basic ones.

Yes harvesters are better drones (30m3 per cycle plus drone bonus vs 10m3 for Basic ones) but they dont come cheap. Cheapest I saw in the last week are at 1.5m each and as high as 4m each. Not worth the investment as NPC will shoot your drones first IMO, but i know of some ppl who uses them and find them usefull.

takes about 15 hours of a harvester mining to pay itself off, after that its pure profits. Also, get to drones 5, use a mixture of heavy drones and harvesters, taht way ogres or wasps can attack any rats, also stay close to the roid your mining, the drones wont have to fly as far to deposit ore in your ship, meaning less travel time = more time mining, also you can quickly pull your drones to the drone bay if rats get too close.

No matter what kind of mining drone you use: always recall them when rats close in.

I advice you to use them only in 0.9 or 0.1. There to expencive to loose and are allway's targeted first byt the rats.

actuly they dont always get targeted first, ive found rats normaly attack wahtever is closer.

I have started using harvestors again. With Drone Interfacing 4, you can control 9 of them. I only deepspace mine, so ark/crok/bist. Those roids have a size of 16 so basic mining drones even with lvl 5 mining drone skill cant touch them. However, the harvies bring in 2 each/min. Thats 18/min more. Same as having 3.5 more miner 2's. With the Megathron using 7 miner 2's it increases yield from 35 bist/min to 53 bist/min.
Thats over 2M ISK of bist every 4 min!

Should mining drone skill be distance instead of amount. I would love my drones to mine 50km as fast as if they where 1km away!
Soo really if you had a roid only 1km away with ming drone skill at 5 he would mine 5 times faster at 1km. So it works out anyway.
