I recently saw the last episode of Enterprise, Zero Hour, and it was fantastic. With a neat cliff hanger at the end. Enterprise has by far the best opening few seasons of all the series imo.
Anyones else seen it?

Seen all enterprise (including zero hour) and if not all voyager, very close to all. I don't like the rest of the ST series though.

Enterprise is definitely my favourite star trek saga. it's just the coolest, without the cheesy aftertaste of the usual star trek crap

I like the show, it has a lot of potential, but I am tired of the number of shows that deal with time travel. There is a wealth of material that the writers can work with, they have all the time between Archer and Kirk, and it is ignored.
Personally, I'd rather see episodes or entire seasons that deal with known history, like the end of the Andorian/Vulcan war and the building of the Federation, rather than half a season dealing with aliens that look like they came from Earth: Final Conflict and can see time lines.
I groaned at the last 2 minutes of Zero Hour. The first thing I told my wife was "WTF?!?! Not again!"

I'm a fan too and I think this is the way the fourth season will go. Oh and remember not everyone's seen it yet

I love Enterprise, best thing to happen to ST since the original. Although I agree with kieron a bit, I'd like to see more about the historical events.
But no spoilers please, third season just started here.

I like it, but I do wish they wouldn't rewrite the Star Trek Timeline to do it --------

Agreed that time travel is a over done in Star Trek but from the first 3 seasons of Enterprise it seems like thats going to be a running theme with the temporal cold war.
Im hoping they do at least one of either the Romulan or Klingon war, which at least would fit in to what we've leared from previuos series about Star Trek history.

Edited by: Xelios on 08/06/2004 15:22:10 I like Enterprise. It, TNG and the last couple seasons of DS9 is the only Trek I can stand to watch. I'm glad Enterprise got renewed though, even if it's in the time slot of death, the last season has been great (especially the effects and CGI, there's been some amazing shots in the series lately).

Let me just say you're in for some amazing TV ;) Third season was just great.

Whilst I agree the time travel aspect is a rather frustrating undertone as it has comparisons to "Dallas - I was in the shower and dreaming" for those oldies who watched that show - in english this means you know the timeline has to be 'resolved' so you spend a whole series knowing they will get out of the problem.
However I do like the way that the current series episodes are linked. Star Trek in all its forms historically has had a max of two episodes in sequence, however Enterprise has been brave to take the whole series as a sequence.
I also thought the cliff hangar was a bit tiresome, if a little unexpected. Half expected to see queen borg.
Overall the characters and inter-relationships are all developing quite well.

TBH I think the end of Zero Hour was something they quickly stuck on. Up until 6 days before the airing of that episode they didn't even know if it would be renewed or not, there was talk of cancelling the series altogether. Ultimatly it was the fans who convinced them to renew the series and I think they had to slap together a cliffhanger ending to lead into season 4 when before they were setting it up to be a series finale.

hush!
I still have like 8-9 shows to watch!
Thanks for reminding me though
I think Enterprise is the best series I've seen so far. I was never much into DS9, Voyager was better, the old series were a bit painful to watch but at the time I'm sure they were not that cringing.
Enterprise has been IMHO more thoughtful, subtler but sharper humour etc.
Sure they come up with the wierdest things (that "halloween show" when they mutated into some long lost civilization?! ) but overall I think it's damn good.

I too enjoy this show but my problem with Enterprise is that i still expect Al to pop up somewhere and every episode to end with "Oh Boy!"
Must remember Captain Archer is not Sam Beckett

Sadly, TOS didn't make the cut

Never liked Enterprise so much. Some of the scripts seems recycled from previous Trek series, the dialog seemed more forced than any of the previous series, and the characters simply don't grab. The time travel thing only gives me a headache. I know they're trying their best to create a grittier, more believable show, considering they are on a lifeline (the series might end half way next year due to ever lower ratings) but it's still ridden with technobabble and magic solutions to me. Worst yet is when Archer gets preachy and whiny at times.
My opinion is that the chance for creating a real quality space genre series ended when they canceled Firefly. Never really liked Babylon 5 so much---the mystic talk gets to you, although I liked G'karr's character.
I hope Sci-Fi Channel the best of luck with their new Battlestar Galactica series next year. The miniseries with Edward James Olmos was awesome.
I pray that CCP would never run EVE like the way Rick Berman and Braga did with Star Trek.
