erm... yeh, thats a bit much for me. still, there are those who would happily do it. After all, 50mill is half a BS - but if you win, then you can buy a new BS BPO.
Only thing i'd worry about is trusting the organiser (nothing personal, but i've not heard of you before, so its automatic) - might be an idea to get a Polaris person to help out and do the actual cash collection?

I will try to get a polaris person for help for the reason u named. I also wouldenŠt give 50 mio isk to a stranger.
A second reason is the security, i donŠt want that a foreign corp can disturb the tournament.

50 million is a bit, but I assume you want the entry fee income to cover the prize. How about finding sponsors to lower the fee while maintaining the prize?

considering the potential cost of this battleship tournament could very well be 150mill (due to the loss of a battleship as well as the entry fee), I wonder how many people are going to risk that amount of money? ---------------------------

No itŠs no scam, i just donŠt look very often in this Forum.
Also there is not many i can say. If it is to much money for somebody i have to do without him.
Johnny also told that we are tryin to get some Polaris people on board so that u donŠt have to worry about your start fee or some people who try to disturb the tournament.
Also i never said that u should send me money now, i just want a Eve-mail if anyone want to start at the tournament.

Edited by: hellwarrior on 09/06/2004 04:03:08 EW is a problem like someone stated above, and perhaps 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Also the people who fight the longest also get ECM Burst 1's so next time they fit that sucker up and bam, someone will die fast.

why do people assume that if someone uses ew that the target will automaticly die in a 1v1? The use of ecm's takes up three med slots. valuble space for tanking. this allows drones and fof's to go to work on the jamming ships weak shields & low cap. In my opinion a jamming scorp is dead in the water in this comp
I'll sign up if I can get some good refrences for the person holding this event.

yep, ew is not as effective in 1v1 as people think. even for a scorp, you give up (assuming you dont know what your fighting) 4-5 med slots to jam battleships. That drains cap loads (if using multi's, anyway). And you cant tank as well. 3-4 med slots and not a huge amount of cap isnt enough to tank well with. And theres other things could do with going in those med slots too of course. And what if the enemy has a backup sensor? then your really screwed.

Hi, i am one of the organisators. I am not very popular at this Forum. I can only say that i am an Eve gamer for nearly 1 year and i never would hurt my character so much by scaming this way. But i understand youre misgivings very well.

I actually thought of doing something like this myself, but figured that you're never gonna get enough people with that kinda cash...and the fact that you lose a battleship so it'll cost most people well over the entry amount.
Would be a good idea if you got ISD or someone to properly sponsor the event, maybe do it as a "proper event," in the news and such...less involvement from you yes, but its the game that counts.
Talk to that Nebulai chap, sponsored me in WheresWally and helped me run it and all that.
(next WW coming soon btw...)

Actually a bit less, If you take into account platinum insurance and any looted mods if you happen to win a bout.
But still approximately 80million is at risk, plus your own mods.
