Hi! I have just started and made myself a trader grrrrl. Now I see that Charisma and the varius Trade skills only work with NPCs(Doh). Now I wonder if there was a biiiig misstake doing this. My base Charisma is 12(highest of my attributes)and is there any use for this ? I cant see that it could be usefull when all trade is done between players Any inputs would be appriciated

Training skills to make agents love you (in both good and bad) will be a bliss for you. Anything else, you will probably suck at :/

my char has 4 charisma as base, takes a little while to train social skills, but the extra point i put into int and perception and start has helped me out more then any ammount of charisma could. Dont get my wrong, the social skills are nice, but there chances are you wont be training them to 5 so you wont notice a huge effect of having lots of char.

Do you mean that the trader skills are useless but the agent skills can be of use ?

Edited by: Itsumo Komaru on 07/06/2004 19:50:57 I think social skills are good for Agents in that you get more missions (ie higher level agents), and more money for completing them (depending on individual skills)
Also, Leadership skills (gang bonuses) also have a Charisma modifier (as well as Willpower). I'm not exactly sure what effect it has though.
...btw Dist I love the facial expression on your portrait. He looks like he's one breath away from giving the order for an execution.

Its the most powerful Attribute. CHA will rule the game. Wait and see those with CHA will be the ceo's and leaders in gang opration when those Rank 5 skills come into play. For now train your missle skills, ohh they are changing..... hehehehehe --------------------------

hmmm, you made charisma your highest attribute at creation...i hope this isnt your main character, because its going to be slllllooooowww training all the other 100+ skills. i'd advise you to recreate your character if your char isnt that old yet.
to answer your question though, leadership and social skills are the only ones that effectively use charisma now. the trading skills are bugged i think. charisma is good for agent missions, you can train those agent related skills faster and get better rewards.

Good lord remake your character quick.
Your skills are going to train very, very slowly.
Make sure to have 10+ int and 9+ mem and per and then don't worry about will or cha at all. Especially for trading you are better off with the skills that can enable you to haul more and fly faster, or mine more ore quicker and refine it more efficently. There are not any "trading" skills that will lower your costs or anything.
To do actual profitable trading take some inventivness. Just running the trade routes with NPC's won't make you substantial money. You need to find locations where people have buy orders for lots of money or join a corp with a strong need for lower end minerals way out in 0.0 space. And when you do spot those crazy buy orders you need to get there before someone else does.
Trit that sells in empire for 1.2 will sell 40 hops into the deep unknown for 6 or more. And isogen that you sell for 80 or whatever in empire will sell for 200. Ammunition can sell for good markup out there as well.
