I've seen worse... MUCH worse. High-budget ones too.
The first season of SeaQuest was actually quite good, second season was meh, third season pretty bad.

I think SeaQuest sucked because the sea is boring. Oh no! Beluga whales! Sea ninjas! An underwater volcano! All these perils could be avoided by simply staying out of the damn water. Do we really need to explore atlantis? I mean it sank for a reason, maybe we shouldn't screw with those space ghost haunted undersea ruins!

And all the problem of humanity can be solved by simply ceasing to crave for wealth and prosperity.
There's a shitload of (theoretically) exploitable resources in the seas (which, ironically, make up about two thirds of this planet's surface), the only problem is getting there cheap enough to matter.

SeaQuest 2032 was pretty bad, but it was the 3rd (and final) season, new cast and all that jazz. The first was downright good, the second wasn't as good as the first but still quite fun.
As for Voyager, I really enjoyed that, sure it wasn't as much a continuous storyline as some of the other series, but individual episodes were usually entertaining enough.

voyager was either really good or really bad imho depnding on what episode .
enterprise had potential but drifted into some ridiculous plotlines (the xindi arc ).
but to stray away from trek .
stargate is largely unwatchable to me it's like space xena i cant stand it .
but seaquest was awful for me i could never understand why you would try to make a submarine show . what can be left to explore in the oceans that would interest any person except the national geographic crowd .

if not it's a runner up DSV did have some interesting episodes too offset its overall suckiness
2 stand out in my mind. there was a show called Battlestar 1980 and another called Viper
as much of a BSG fan i am (original series included), watching Starbuck fly commercial airliners and seeing a Cylon unwittinly go to a Halloween party (and be the life of the party!) just made me die a little inside.
Viper? Easily the worst piece of shit ever produced for television (and thats saying A HELL OF A LOT) ------------------------------ of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most |

Voyager had massive potential, realised none of it, had 2-3 exceptional episodes per season but spent the other 20 or so being a bad TNG clone.
Enterprise, a facepalm an episode or your money back!
Stargate is, of course, made of win and awesome, though many disagree on which particular flavour is best (movie/early/mid/late/atlantis).
As for the actual series in question, I only saw it a few times when I was a kid, so I have no idea. -

Q.F.T.
Show started with alot of promise. Basically a space show underwater. All sorts of cool hi-tech stuff, spunky kid star, cute pet (dolphin) all the makings for a good show.
Then they decided to get all enviro-political with it and basically killed the whole damn thing. The follow-up series was an unmitigated disaster.
Note to all future Sci-Fi show creators: The old Enviro-lefty "Evil Corporation/ Military-Industrial Complex is destroying the Earth and only a spunky team of inexplicably sexy and/or inexplicably athletic and/or inexplicably military hardware and tactics knowledgeable scientists can save it" meme SUCKS SWEATY DONKEY BALLS for a plotline. It's been done to death, is utterly unrealistic and unbelievable, and makes for BORING programming.
In other news, Voyager was OK, but by the time it came out, most of the Star Trek plotlines had already been done to death, and the franchise had pretty much become a dry husk.
Not that they didn't try again with Enterprise (starring Scott Bakula) which I rather liked, if only because they had to deal with problems as the underdog, rather than as the all-powerful Federation for once. And it nicely filled in some of the Star Trek backstory for us. Too bad it had such a short run.

Yeah, except one problem with that: you don't need a high tech invincible laser-shooting fish-sub crewed by a psychic woman and an angsty teenage boy to get at those resources. Just drilling platforms!

Pretty much agreed with everything in your post but this.
WTF? Stargate like Xena in space? How the heck do you get "Lucy Lawless running around in a leather teddy and weapons" out of "a team of modern-day Air-Force personnel adventuring through the galaxy via a high-tech wormhole generator network"?
The only thing I can think is you've only seen one episode, the one that takes place on the planet of Ja'fa women (I forget the episode name). Now, I will admit, that single episode is rather Xena-esque as far as the women's clothing is concerned. But that's the closest they EVER got to Xena, and even then, the comparison was only superficial.
Unless you want to start considering Amanda Tapping in the Xena role. Mmmm.... Amanda Tapping in a tight leather outfit...
(Is it just me, or does has anyone else here been wanting to have hot, sweaty sex with Amanda Tapping ever since they first saw her in Stargate?) Tactical Logistics using the last T1 Frigate hull!
