I thought this would be a good idea and thought id share it on this forum...
What I think would be good is for some ores to appear at random times (once per week?) in a single random location (once in Tash-Murkon, then next week in Sing Laison somewhere, etc). The ore generated would normally be a zero sec ore and would appear in a low sec or 0.5 sec area.
This would also include ICE belts with a different random type of ICE (so if the belt is Clear Icicle, then would get a very small roid with a different type of ICE - maybe 10000 units total (ie 10 ICE rocks or the equivalent 10000 units of other ore in an ore belt).
Not a lot but a nice surprise and enough to make some people get richer... it would appear for at max 24 hours (one DT to the Next).
Can anyone tell me if this has been done before or is it in place now?
The amount of ore wouldnt be a lot but enough to keep people looking in random belts... And only ONE roid would be present, not a belt of them! it would keep miners on their toes instead of the mindless bordem of the usual mining...
(Can you imagine all the fun that would result from the introduction of such a concept? Miners sitting on the edge of their seats? Corps all jumping to one belt as they try to get the highly valued ore? Concord jumping to to Pew-pew the BG's!)

Alot of low sec/0.0 ores already appear in high sec spots via Grav sites. You just have to get out and look for them. They do not appear in the local static belts.

Oh, so you mean that it requires you to Explore for them?
(I havent looked into Exploration yet so I have no idea what it does/can do...)

I think the issue of e-on talks a bit about ccp planning on implementing something like this. I look forward to it, as mining really could do with some changes in this regard.

I wouldnt hold your breath on this one. They said they were introducing random ores in high sec at least 2 yrs ago, then all of a sudden nothing more was mentioned about it. They then introduced the silvery and dense ores etc, etc.
Which, imo, is about as useful as an odd sock. Not to mention it shows a total lack of imagination and creativity on who ever came up with the idea in the first place.

I want spontanious isk spawned into my wallet )
Here's another idea, arcanite crystals just like the ones they got in WoW and other precious gems as rare rewards when you process large quantaties of ore.
Space relics would be neat too. A super zentradi ray gun after floating in space for thousands of years eventually collects dust and forms an asteriod, waiting for that mining laser to pry it out again. Click here for my High Security POS Service
