I've heard these items are in game, but have yet to actually see/find any myself. I'm not asking for where some are (though would be appreciated) I'm intersted in learning how to find them and how do you know if they are hidden? Does it say "Planet X - Hidden belt 1"? What is the process for locating them? Just crank up the scan area on the scanner? Jump planet to planet or moon to moon and there it sits? Are they only in 0.0 space? Same questions on the gates. A little help please.

i dont think hidden belts are actual entities, just oddities in roid distribution

I have seen a gate that was suppose to lead to "|]" something like that.. but it would not let me jump.. most curious thing i have found is space yet.

there aren't really 'hidden' belts anymore. those were just a side effect of belts extending outside of the grids so they seemed like they were hidden. now that grids are changed u can see all the rocks pretty much.
don't think there are any hidden gates ingame- maybe you are thinking of the priate gates in the 0.0 outer systems. but there are lots of hidden structures etc. to find. for those use the scanner at max range and directional to locate the nearest warpable planet/moon/belt, warp there then mwd the rest of the way.

I've recently discovered some hidden npc spawns that are in the middle of nowhere. No roids, no debris, or abandoned station or anything there. Just some npc's in the middle of nowhere, pretty odd.

Probably not. 1 500k bs, 2 250k bs's, and a slew of cruisers seems a bit much for any agent mission I've ever heard of. I have an idea of what it might be, but if its what I think it is then I don't want everybody else to know about it.

Thats just an asteroid belt where the marker is not where the belt is. the whole belt is 'hidden' but the npcs spawn at the marker. Open your range scanner and put it on like 20,000 and you will see the roids.

Yes, I was referring to pirate gates. I remember reading about one somewhere in the Amarr system, but have yet to see anything that says "secret pirate jump gate", so curious as to how would I know it's a pirate gate if I found it, and exactly how do I find such gates?
But about the hidden asteriod belts, you are telling me... There aren't any anymore... Yes they are! No they're not! Yes they are!
Thanks for the clarification on that!

The hidden belts are only hidden from players, meaning that the only way you can find them is to use your scanner. However npcs still spawn there(they didn't used to because of the grid thing). All the "pirate" gates I've seen and used are just regular gates that you can warp to throughout the 0.0 regions, they just look different.

The hidden belts are just grid/graphics glitches.
BUT
There is ALOT of Bases, outposts, non minable roid clusters etc. in the middle of nowhere in many places now.
The DEV's are ramping things up for the special "dungeons" based senerios and alot of these special places need to be added in space before the missions can be written for them.
I personally have seen secret bases and such that contain flotsam's, Drifting casks etc. that don't spawn NPC's or loot. Many places I have found did not exist even as soon as several weeks ago. So finding alot of places in the middle of nowhere will become alot more common until the next couple patches when the new senerios become active.
On top of that alot of these "secret Outposts" will be heavily defended just as player deployed struture will be in Shiva. The DEV's are making the NPC mimic all aspects of Players, including mining ops, convoy runs by NPC pirates and NPC run shootable and lootable structures.

Yes, I have discovered several new and fascinating objects in space of late (I'd like to add I like finding them and they add a nice touch to the asthetics of the game).
Back on topic, you're telling me these items are already on my scanner (pirate gates) and part of the autopilot course plotting (etc) and that I need not search for them. Hidden belts are also a thing of the past and no longer exist, don't waste my time looking for them.
That seems to be the general consensus of late.

Edited by: KrapYl on 08/06/2004 23:48:33 goto to the sun, open map browser (F11) and do a range scan... eve-i has good articles about exploring a system...
hint: when doing directional... scanning multiple times, adjusting the viewdirection with small fractions inbetween, are recommended to get the most reliable result... and a little luck... :)
