Hi all,
Had a random idea pop into my head regarding sov warfare, and how to completely eliminate SCs, dreads and carriers from directly affecting sov changes...
Firstly, TCUs should be invulnerable forever, and there should be one for every claimable system in EVE.
Secondly, keep SBUs and keep their job of making a system vulnerable.
Now here is the idea: The TCU is always invulnerable, and unable to be targeted.
BUT.
There needs to be a special ship/module to change the sov, and this special ship/module CAN target the TCU. Once targeted, a module (similar to a hacking module?) is activated on the TCU and the process of flipping sov has begun. This module has a 1 hour activation timer. After that is done, the sov is flipped.
The timer for sov though is independant of the module on the special ship, and can be manipulated in one of several ways:
- More of the invading "sov ships" are able to target the TCU and use their sov module, but doing so will slow the TCU timer.
- The TCU can be targeted by defending "sov ships", THEM activating their module will have twice the power of the attackers, and will reverse the timer accordingly.
- The TCU can accept up to 10 targeting signals from "sov ships".
- If 10 target slots are taken up by invading "sov ships", a defending "sov ship"s target of the TCU will jam out a random attacking "sov ship", and will be unable to re-target the TCU until such time as the defender untargets the TCU (by means of ship destruction or warping off, cloaking etc).
- "Sov ships" are either frigate or destroyer sized, possibly T3 based, and have extremely good speed, scan res, and sig radius.
- Ten defending "sov ships" can target the sieged TCU at once and activate their modules for a complete reset of the TCU's timer.
Just an idea i had for a way to reduce the reliance of SCs to directly affect sov warfare, and promotes cunning, tactics and skill instead.
