Hey all, I was training up the small laser prereqs. for Heavy Pulse II's for my Harbinger and I figured that since I would have good small pulse skills if it would be worth traiing the extra 8 days for a Crusader. I will have tech2 small pulses before the proposed speed changes as I only haveabout a day left as far as gunnery reqs. for Heavy Pulse II's.
I suppose my big question is, how well will the Crusader fare after the speed changes? Will it be as good a brawler as the Taranis (which I can fly already)? Will it be as good/worse/the same as it is now? I'd also appreciate any setups you can offer.

id imagine it can seeing as how you realy dont need to run the mwd perma (i know i dont) just to close, fight other inties or GTFO

Interceptors will likely be ranked as follows: 1. Taranis/Malediction 2. Crusader/Claw 3. Rocket Crow/Standard Crow* 4. Everything else
*depends on how CCP tweak the missiles. - FRIGANK |

Interceptors will likely be ranked as follows:
1. Ares/Malediction/Stiletto (warp scram range bonus) 2. Crow/Taranis/Crusader/Claw (medicore, but can still do the job)
...
Not even on the list: Raptor
Of course post speed nerf, interceptors will be like interdictors: suicide ships where it really doesn't matter which one you fly. Pick the one you think looks best, so you can die in style.

As i understood it Interceptors whouldnt get that large of a speed hit as the other ships and it whould be the fastest ship class by far. So if im not wrong the Crusader will be the fastest ship in the game post patch? ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, but take a look at the complaints from interceptor pilots. Their invulnerable speeds are gone, and the Warrior IIs most PvP ships carry have no problem killing them. Interceptors are going to become much more like interdictors, suicide ships that get in as fast as possible, tackle the target, and wake up in a cloning station. In that scenario, it really doesn't matter which one you pick, you'll do zero dps to anything other than a frigate, and you'll die just as fast to the things that kill interceptors. Just pick the one you think looks best so you die in style.

My malediction tackles warr IIs just fine on test server. Dont exaggerate. Sure its not easy mode perma tackle, but a tackling inty if flown well can hold a target for minutes. ----------------------------------------- [Video] Support Barrage |

I'm just quoting the interceptor pilots. I already consider inties to be expendable ships, so I haven't been keeping up with it too closely. But I've seen quite a few posts from angry interceptor pilots complaining that they die very easily now.

Isnt drone speed an issue that will be looked upon when speed nerfing atleast ive imagined mentioning of this by the devs, as overlooking missiles has been mentioned as well? ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think drones are actually working as they should. Small ones catch frigs, medium ones catch cruisers etc. Main issue are the missiles that have way too high explo velocities. ----------------------------------------- [Video] Support Barrage |

Well, from SISI testing, it appears that interceptors are noticeably easier to kill then on TQ as they are somewhat slower in plain T2 fits, and polycarbons don't help you anymore so that's not a option.
Then again, merely T2 fit interceptors are easy to kill on TQ too, it's just the pimped ones you have problems with, and pimping to get more speed isn't very possible now.

Actually, polies still help you, auxes might be better tho. People tend to forget that (apart from the polies being OP and them getting nerfed to fit in with the rest of rigs) the main reason the usual speed fits don't work anymore is because of increased stacking and hence increased penalties.
If everything stacks why not put speed options in rigs and have more low slots left for other mods.. damage, damage control, cap stability, signal amps, all very useful in ceptors.
Also, a ceptor that can't take out a few drones on it's tail that constantly have to mwd hop to get to you is a ceptor that deserves to die. Most pvp-ers only bring 5 warrior IIs, most ceptors can take those out before they die. And maybe with a speed rig + damage control fit you can easily keep your tackle till the cav arives. Basically adapt to the new options.
The sader is a fickle tackler already, with just 2 mid slots which will make it even more so after the patch, since some ceptors can actually fit the mwd+ab+scram+web option which is very useful to tackle larger targets till the cav arives.. as a sader pilot I'm glad I also have the malediction, I feel it will be far superior to the sader post patch.
All the stuff above does not necessarily reflect my corp, my alliance or even me.. Drone guide.. |

A sader will totally destroy a malediction. On the other hand, the malediction does give any other inty a run for its money if flown well. For example Id rather face a taranis in a malediction then in a sader but Id rather be in a sader if Im facing a crow or stilletto. ----------------------------------------- [Video] Support Barrage |

Nothing else matters than numbers. So SISI fellows, GIVE US NUMBERS ffs!
With T2 fit you go something like 6000+ m/s with navigation V and other skills IV level. How much it is after that nanonerf? TBH it would be real sad if the ships wich are intented to be real fast gets nerfed due massive cruiser nano fitting trend........................
