I've repeatedly asked for this feature over the years but with the upcoming patch the situation is becoming a bit more critical: Originally by: Patch Notes The Market item price history table has been changed so that it will display only the time period selected rather than a list for the full year.
The reason I've asked for this is obvious, trending data is vital. Now that information will be further limited, not to just in game, but to only the last 3 months... those of us who don't do data scraping (or some other automated data gathering) are going to be at a further disadvantage. Again, I'd like to point out that the data already comes to us. What I'd like is to be able to access this data via other mechanisms besides in game. Either that or I'm openly starting a running bounty of someone providing a 3rd party tool that access this data. ( Eula Be Damned) I'll start off the bounty with 1 Billion. I'll update this thread if others are willing to toss in more isk. Current Bounty: 1,000,000,000.00 isk.

Providing a EULA breaking application is surely worth more than 1b? Providing a trend analysis tool would surely be worth a whole lot more? Mined correctly it's effectively a license to print ISK.

I'm just asking for the market bacon and allowing others to join in.
Essentially I'd prefer it was a community wide application. I'm not looking for a specific edge here as I usually physically transcribe the data I may need over whatever given time period I'm trending.
So it is not that I'm trying to be cheap if a potentially eula breaching route needs to be taken. I'm more than willing to toss in quite a bit more. But I am specifically looking for a research tool, not looking for an isk printer. Just a research tool to replace information that is being stripped from us more and more as time goes by.
Besides: This is a feature that I've pounded the forums, in the past, for over 4 years now. Long overdue.

Confirming that for every new project a spreadsheet is developed and various systems prices are manually gathered for comparison.
I think I've mentioned the historic mfc spreadsheet that included collapsible fields for updating of multiple region/system market sales data. That thing was HUGE.

I may be wrong but im taking this patch note to mean you can select the length of the history you want to see, using the drop down that currently lets you select the time frame of the history graph.
This maybe to try to minimise the DB calls as now it will not automatically pull 1 year of data everytime its looked at.

There is currently no selectable period longer than 3 months.

Market Bacon... Hmm.....
Just to clarify, would a tool that could give you a 'dump' (ie. CSV or similar export) *after* you pulled up the list in-game be what you're looking for here? |

Oveur was and probably still is against any furtherance of exporting historical transaction data from EVE. Quite why I don't understand.
Market is my PvP. I analyse market data much like a fleet commander or mission runner analyses his ship type and fittings. My goal is exactly the same as theirs, to best my opponent. My interpretation of the information is wholly similar to theirs. The difference in our methods is that they have exact information readily available in a variety of formats and applications. I have to manually define and construct my information, a most laborious task.
I see no difference in these two aspect of gameplay, yet CCP does. I've often heard the term 'fairness' bandied about. Intelligence is unfair, access to information should not be.

Yes. I used to have something that did this before. It would simply decode the machonet file I'd specify. It was limited in that it only extracted out the price and volume data. I had to give type and date contexts. Of course CCP is constantly improving that part of Eve, makes sense as it effects bandwidth. But keeping someone handy to keep updating that decoder was just not worth the trouble. (Not with as often as CCP kept changing the format.) Then Oveur is being intentionally obtuse. The data comes to us already, period. This is not real time data to be honest, just historical. As you said, if it was PvP I'm sure there would be more interest in this. In this and anything else market related. Midas, my ass. Sisyphus it is named until we see it. Because until it is deployed, and evaluated, it is just another boulder of bs handed to us as a sop.
