I refer to doing missions for combat orientated divisions of NPC corps.
Since they have apparently nerfed the loot drops of these missions, reduced the standing gained from these missions and made it nigh on impossible to gain implants from these missions, assuming that these facts are indeed correct, can someone tell me what the heck is the point of doing these missions please?

Apart from getting a better standing with a faction...can't think of any. -------------------------------------

5m per hour and about one implant per week is why I do them. |

Its a game. You kill monsters. There is no point to killing monsters. It simply *is* the point! Unless it isn't. If you'd rather be doing something else, EVE is pretty freeform that way.

I got a Quad Lif and a 250mm Prototype Rail as loot drops last night from kill missions.
But, besides that, kill missions are a lot more fun than courier missions, so I do them as they're fun and I like having fun. Sure, everyone supports saving Einstein's brain, but when you put it in the body of a Great White Shark, suddenly you've "gone too far". |

i do kill missions for fun, I'm usually mining and kill missions are a good distraction for me, courier missions would just be going from one boring task (mining) to another. kill missions are not really that good money though its better to go npc hunting in .4 and below, but at least with kill missions you can kill cruiser npc's in secure space without having to worry about real pirates and you get more varied things to fight without travelling all over so you get a more varied selection of loot, and as a miner you really need that corp standing high or they take 5% off you every refine.

Edited by: Amin on 08/06/2004 17:01:57 Went back to my Caldari Navy agent a few days ago and got an implant mission the same day. A corp mate also got one from them. So as far as i can tell they're still there
Also, kill missions take me alot less time than other types (i generally do 2-3 at a time) so it wouldnt surprise me if the drop rates are programed to be lower.

The implant thing was no deiliberate nerf. It was accidental since the missions distribution got changed, so that combat agents have less chance of giving courier missions. So as the implant mission is a courier missions, it's frequency went down. It's said that a combat oriented implant mission is ready to be patched in to fix this.

Nice dont suppose you want to share your agent / skill set up with us ? think the most I make from kill missions is around a 1-2m an hour not counting selling any named gear.

I would imagine he has at least two lvl 3 agents in one station and is running the kill missions in a bship with a brawling setup (warp in at 15km and wipe out the spawn in less than a minute).

Yeah, a Blasterthron is probably the fastest way of doing missions, as it can kill a Rouge Pirate Escort with a single volley. Good for making money fast, but not very challenging.

wow, 5m isk an hour doing missions.
that is impressive considering i got negotiations 4 social 5 and my best lvl 3 agent effective quaility is 45 and only sends me on 3 jump missions farthest away and all gates are insta jumped.......i make 1 mill an hour at best and have yet to get an implant since last implant nerf.
I was getting implants about every 10 to 15 missions before patch
I've done over 70 mill isk worth of missions since mission implant nerf. that is excluding selling any recycled loot, selling any rare drops or making any extra money from mission bounties and rewards. 70 mill worth of missions and not one single implant.
if they gonna nerf the implants that hard, please put some the mega and zyd back in the rare tools loot so us mission running PvE players can get back to surviving with these giant corps and them mean nasty PvP players

That would make a lot more sense since something of such value (the Implant) is gained at such little risk (courrier mission). Seems kinda backwards to me.
Thanks for the info.

Edited by: Grey Area on 10/06/2004 14:41:11 I'm in the same boat - worked up a Kaalakiota kill agent, and it was fun for a while, but now the novelty has worn off. I don't have the "uber-damage" capacity, so a mission can take up to 10 minutes actual combat to complete. Furthest I have to travel is 4 jumps out. I live for the thief mission, as the 140K bounty on the four escorts is a lot more than the actual mission reward, which if anything seems to have got LESS since I started with the agent, and now hovers around 60-75K.
Loot drops are supplied by the Dyson vacuum cleaner company - their slogan is "No loss of suction". Figure it out.
Kaalakiota gives out a wide range of products as bonuses, which I don't think actually helps, as the percentage of anything "good" is lost in all the cr*p. ========================================= * I'm ALLOWED to cheat. I'm a STARSHIP. * ========================================= |

As someone stated above. The no implants from kill missions are a bug, and slated to be fixed in a patch. We need this fix SOON though. Im getting tired of not making money.
