Would be possible to read evemails from the API key system? I would like to have an app to check evemails from igoogle for example. ________________________________________

This is on our wishlist of API features, but currently it is under the heading of "Would be nice to have, but not feasible at the moment". The background programming work involved in this is several levels of complexity above what was (and is) required to enable the output of statistics and character information. The amount of load this would place on the database is also an issue, as having several thousand people check their eve-mails remotely multiple times an hour could add significantly to the load generated by the API interfaces.
Implementing a feature like this could entail a complete rewrite of the EVEmail system to perhaps use an entirely separate server. Even the EVE client would query this server to retrieve mail, much in the way a standard e-mail client checks a central server. But the resources such a project would take up would be significant, so I would not expect this to materialise anytime mid- to long-term.

This could be a very nice change since we could have mail apps with filters and other nice features. And removing enterely the evemail system from the server could free the database.
But I understand there are more important stuff to fix/enhance/balance ________________________________________

Its not easy to change the Mailsystem for external use. But i would like to see any changes for the Mailsystem. First we need a Mailsystem with features like Outlook or something similar. There is no save for Outgoing Mails, no orders can be createt and so on....

i approve. - PvPers always say "GB2WoW". the message is that EVE is hard, and people just need to deal with it. wasn't it funny how when nano's started making it hard for *them*, that all went out the window? |

Just an idea (as always):
Replace the mail system with a standard MTA. Add the ability to connect to it via pop / imap. And so on ..
And voila, your customers are able to use eve for their private emails - both worlds connected. But im not sure if eve players would pay a fee for the email enhancement because there are already plenty of free mail accs like gmail available.
But maybe such a feature means that players will not stop playing eve because its more then just playing eve.
