I just lost my scorp when i warped into a belt, in my daily hunting routine.
What happend?
Well sometimes i get some fat lag when i come out from warp.. this one lasted for like 15-20 secs and had another one right after coming from 5 sec.
This made me unable to even do anything with the rats(guristas in 0.0) so when i finally locked them and started do some damage my shields where down and armor to 50%
I petitioned it quick, as a stuck problem cause i want a fast reply if i do or do not get my assets back (scorp with some regular setup items).
Cause i spend to much time for this game to get it all ripped away of "everynowandthen" but critical bugs. Im going to quit playing if i dont get it back, cause this is the second time. And its making me angry as hell, cause i dont like losing ships. Especially not Battleships and not when i use so much time on this game.
Just wanted to blow out on the forums.. i rarely dont. Its late, bed time!.
Sincerly a [tired of bugs not being replaced pirate]

I seriously doubt by 20 seconds you was half into armor... unless you had 5 mwd's on

20 sec lag every now and then sounds to me you need either a new better computer or better connection
If all this is good your windows must suck..
Sure i get a lag when a new NPC spawn when im in a belt but that lag is 1 - 2 sec at top

That's why I always keep a couple warp core stabs on when fighting NPC's. I almost lost a tempest to a gurista's npc spawn for that exact same reason. And I lost a tricked out Moa to a 0.0 gurista spawn about a month ago because I warped to the belt, came out of warp, and saw no npc's, no asteroids, and I couldn't move. I had to relog, while stuck at the loading screen all I heard were missles....
Now I just keep the warp core stabs on, so I don't have to worry about bugs and lag and ctd's when fighting npc's.
Hopefully you don't quit over this, because I can assure you the GM's will do NOTHING as usual. I hear about people that occasionally get ships replaced, but I'm pretty sure they must have connections.

I think it is your computer that is causing the lag. If you have 256 memory this happens from time to time after you've been playing a while, but with 512 it does not (I've heard 384 works ok too, but I know 512 is ok). If that is not the problem I still think it's your computer I just would not know exactly what then.

yea i had mwd on, and no i got 512ddr atm.
and yes it was 20 secs approx
anyway it was annoying.
My anger is over, but still i its a shame of the game supervisors, not replacing it, cause if they cant because of computer hardware or so, they should put in a block against bad hardware, cause it only ruins gaming experience.
i want 70 mill back!

i have 576MB of RAM, and long load times still happen to me, but only in certain systems and only in roid fields.
i've lost one hauler to this problem so far, but i now make a practice of firing up a shield hardener or two as i'm starting to get the coming-out-of-warp shakes. it's usually quite enough to protect me.
i'd like to see a system in place that anticipates what your client will have to load ahead of time. it takes quite a number of seconds to warp from spot to another, but the client seems to wait until you arrive before it begins to load the scene you're warping to... and it locks up the client while it does it!
why not load the scene at a rate that doesn't lock up the client throughout the warp duration, so that by the time you arrive, the client knows exactly what to display and where as far as static objects like containers and asteroids go. only mobile object locations and trajectories would have to be fetched at the last second.
hrm... this a good idea. think i'll post in the Idea Labs...

well fighting guristas in a scorp with a mwd on is a dumb idea anyways so just accept your loss and deal with it

I've ran into some lag warping into belts in 0.0 as well. Only last about 2 to 3 sec, and I run 2 gig's of ram, so if there is a big cluster of rats in the belt I can see how people can have some long load time.

Edited by: 0liT on 10/06/2004 04:07:39 Sorry about it, but it's plain stupid to be just warping around in belts with your bs, these things can happen and they will also happen. It's always best to scout out the belt first, have a shuttle stashed away in space or use your pod to check the belt out before bringing in your bs. You might end up on 15km of a kick-ass spawn, and you have none to blaim but yourself.
