Just installed EVE on a laptop with a fresh installation of Windows Vista X64 When I run eve the launcher comes up and displays "client ready" When I try to launch eve the splash screen appears and disappears nothing else happens. If I open the task manager it shows exefile as running and subsequent attempts to launch happen the same with a new process exefile added to the list. If I restart the computer and run the repair tool nothing happens on my screen, if I look in task manager it appears there for a very short time and disappears.
I don't see any errors anywhere. Please tell me what I should do, I want to play eve. |

Go to http://download.microsoft.com/ and download the latest DirectX web setup and run it. Then ensure all drivers (esp. graphic are up to date as well. Looking for more thoughts? Read my blog or follow me on Twitter. |

Same issue i think, splash window comes up, screen flashes three or four times and desktop locks up. Can hear Eve progrom and music but can't select it or do anything else with desktop. Only way to get out is to hard restart.
Have reinstalled several times, upgraded as above and now losing the will to live :-( HELP! |

Same issue for me - splash screen appears, then disappears. Screen flickers several times, then back to desktop with a frozen mouse/keyboard. Laptop must be soft-booted to get CtrlAltDel to bring up Task Manager.
Updating DirectX did nothing. Repair tool, reinstalling did nothing. Switching to 16-bit from 32-bit did nothing.
HP Pavilion dv7, i7 w/ 8gig, ATI Radeon HD 6770M w/ 2gig. Eve worked on this computer before the new launcher. Any other ideas? |

I have the same problem. but I only lose control over the KB and mouse when the focus in on the desktop. I can however hit the windows key and right click the taskbar to start the task manager to kill the process. Which just makes it faster for me to try (and fail) to play a game I pay a monthly subscription for )
Aside from AV & Firewall (and this happens with both disabled) EVE is the only program I have installed so far on a brand spanking new laptop. If I boot EVE in safe mode, the only difference is I can hear the music playing while my screen shows a frozen desktop.
Hopefully the issue will be fixed before the 13 day skill I started prior to patch day is trained.......

I swapped to the Intel 2D chip and was able to get to login screen. Changed full screen mode to fixed window mode, exited program. Changed back to ATI chip & was able to get to login screen successfully. Not sure if there is a way to change this setting if using a machine that does not have switchable graphics.
Same here, same laptop. There is another thread with someone else with the same word for word issue as this thread. it seems to be mostly hp laptops. wtf, why is CCP not helping? I put in a help ticket with no reply yet!
