I was wondering what the general process would be to start my own EVE bank. What kind of starting capital would be best, how to decide what to invest where, and would I need to hire people to help? Thanks in advance for any tips.

If you have to ask, don't!
Really sounds like you don't know the first thing about your idea beyond "Bank huh that would be cool"... In which case don't.

convo people in game who run one and ask them how they do it
make a list of questions to ask so as to not waste their time if they agree to talk with you
people - for an enterprise like this better get some friends to work with you, not some random players you don't know, someone you either know irl or ingame as being reliable and trustworthy

You'd want to check out EBANK's early threads (well over a year ago) and also Dynasty Banks threads. Both use the best model for Banking in my opinion;
1) Technology out of game using the API
2) A Board of Directors making decisions
3) Staff supporting the Bank's operations (withdraws, manual tasks, etc)
That's it. Start small, build up from there.

Trust...lots of it
I doubt people would give any trust after some certain people ran off with 800 tril awhile back

EBANK has a NAV estimated at 875 billion. =)
Start small...EBANK started with 15 billion.

Thank you very much for the replies, I wouldn't be planning on starting this any time soon, just trying to gain as much basic knowledge as I can ahead of time.

My only correction was that galatic bank did not have trillions, only billions.

Something I wish I had done was establish all the outside technology before you start the bank. So, when you start running you can focus on making interest rather than working on the systems.
Other than that Hexxx has given you the best advice you should follow. Research up on the current banks and past banks and look at how they became successful or how they failed. |

Come on guys, this was an utter joke thread. Hasn't this guy Squee been around here before?
Anyone that has to ask "how do I start a bank" is clearly joking or a joke. Either way as was said above "if you have to ask, don't". |

Actually, according to eve-search, this is his first worthless waste of time post on the eve forums.
