I trained up and outfitted my falcon, but I have no experience with EW. Would it be safe to get a feel for using the ship in level 1 and 2 missions in high sec to get a general feel for the use of ECM and my new toy? |

This probably.
The two (Falcon, L1/L2s) have got very little in common with each other.
Flying a BB and a Falcon OTOH utilises several of the same techniques (e.g. targetting things and clicking your ECM). |

Or save even more and use a Griffin on belt rats in high-sec. It's actually good practice. Cheap and safe.
With no ECM experience your Falcon will be of little use, and you'll likely lose it quickly in combat. |

Practice isn't a bad thing, especially with 150,000,000 ISK of ship & fittings. You could initially try warping into a high-security (0.5, 0.6) belt and attempting to jam the NPC frigates you may find there. Once you're comfortable with how the ship performs, move into low security and then no security space. The Falcon isn't a solo-mobile for most purposes, friends are better than fitting guns/missiles.
I've more than once escorted corporate ratting gangs out in 0.0 - both to act as PvP support if we ever found another gang to shoot up and to jam out NPC Battleships so they couldn't shoot back/use their own electronic warfare on gang members. It was surprisingly useful. |

Thirdeded or Fourthdeded.
L1/L2's are nothing like PvP, you bring your PvE game to PvP your gonna lose ships fast.
The Blackbird is your best best for getting a good feel for it, the griffins/kitsunes have short range and tight fits, and the bb is the t1 version of the Falcon, so it's a lot more similar. |
