The joining/leaving player corp exploit/not
So in summary:
Joining a player corp at war to gank a target minutes later has been deemed an exploit. Leaving a player corp at war to avoid a gank has been deemed not an exploit.
These are facts both of which can be confirmed through the search function.
and my solution
Cooldown period - join a corp, the CEO may instantly accept you but the "mechanisms of new eden take time to make things happen," thus meaning it takes 7 days for the acceptance to be processed.
The same could easily apply to leaving - you can still jump ship but its going to take you a week each time you decide to do it. This in all probability will result in ppl either not logging in at all or going afk for the 7 days but it has more CONSEQUENCES than the current setup.
I dont believe its so harsh that it will change the new player experience much, and older hands know what theyre getting into when they sign up.
what do you think about the current situation and this proposed solution? Also hihi to trolls, flamers, political forum activists and comedians I look forward to your internet hi-jinx with anticipation. |

Why is it that for every real or percieved problem people propose "solutions" that **** up gameplay for the 99% of players not doing the dirty deed? Yes corps and wardecs have problems, but how about spending some time coming up with a good comprehensive plan that doesn't make the mechanic a PITA for the majority. Make a well thought out thread in the features and ideas forum and let people develop your ideas further. Less trolling and more constructive commenting there and even many devs have admitted to reading the threads there.

No.
24 hours is fine. Just change the leaving process so you select 'leave corp', then 24 hours later it gives you a notification 'you can now leave. select leave again to complete' This happens whether you have any roles or not. |

Edited by: Somealt Ofmine on 01/09/2008 20:10:20 I think:
1. You declare war on corporations, not individuals, in Eve. Disbanding is a perfectly logical response to being decced by a corp that you don't have much chance of beating. It is, in effect, surrendering. If you don't want your war target to surrender, dec someone who will be more likely to want to fight you.
2. Ambushing someone using the game mechanics (meta-gaming) by luring them into a fight and then having 5 neutrals in the system become insta-war targets after joining corp. is a lame exploit, and should be delt with harshly.
Folks, war decs aren't in the game to entitle you to easy ganks, neither are the corp join mechanics.
If you use war-decs to instigate fairly even fights in high sec, you'll probably get some fights. If you use them to try to grief, your target will just surrender without firing a shot (and rightly so) and go on about their business. Is that really so tough to understand? |

7 days is a lot of time for causal,
and the two issues have BIG differences,
leave player corp to avoid war = not hurting the other person. which is fine in CCP's opinion, the person choose to disengage. (assuming he doesnt come back any time soon.)
joining player corp to GANK someone, then quit after = planned assault on someone without exposing yourself to retaliation.... = no risk = frustration for the ganked for he cant retailiate if he wanted to..... CCP doesnt like that either. you fight or you dont, not both when is convienent.

So in which case the 'fix' for the former is simple. Since joining a corp requires you to submit an application at an office, the current exploit must be that they agree ahead of time to submit an application and then have it accepted at the crucial time.
Therefore just change it so that in order to be accepted, you must be at a corp office as well. It's not that big a deal; if you can't be near a corp's office, why precisely are you joining them? Rather than require both the CEO/directory and the member to be online at the same time, I mean you add a third step i.e. submit app at office, app is accepted, you accept the acceptance at the office.
No need for time limits on anything.

I think that is a good solution and I propose you take it one step further. Submit all applications or resignations at the Corp Head Quarters not just any office and give it a 15 minute delay for paperwork to be processed...
With only one location available to join or resign at the insta quit / insta join would be a thing of the past...
In the instance of a war dec well lock all applications from either corp after the 24 hr preparation period. If your going to quit to avoid war and donĘt do it in 24 hrs your stuck till the war is over, if your bringing in outside help for the war they better arrive in 24 hrs and be prepared to stay for the duration of the war.

Wrong. Why? Since some corps have both low sec and high sec presence, which should be the HQ?
The poor newbie should go trhough whole lowsec where podkilling is frequent, to go back to the high sec operations of the corp, where his other newbie friends are, just to help people who want to gank? You sure? Realy sure?
