I use buy orders region wide. Wich means hours of A pilot and scooping stuff all around into one big pile.
Lately there is a mess of suicide gankers. RAging from BC to BS. Today even 3 of them in BSes. Thank to lag they got killed my Concord .
So far they lost all their ships, but sooner or later they will get me.
Im flying Inty 4 with shield extenders. Decent buffer so far.
My question is - should I get a bigger ship in order for them to leave me the hell alone. Mind you there is never more then 500 mil in cargo hold, if that. Allways in one box. Not something I cant make again, but would rather not loose it if theres a chance.
Clearly they arent using cargo scanners. |

500m is enough for people to go after a t1 hauler.
get a t2 one or a freighter... that way you'll be able to haul loads that are alittle bigger before people come after you.
but really there is no way to prevent it, if they want it bad enough your dead unless your not ap'ing it :) |

Someone recently suicided my Viator with about 100M worth of cargo. Can never tell what people will take a grab at. Of course in equal measure I'd point out that I grew up in neighborhoods where you'd get mugged for 5 bucks. /me shrugs. |

Yeah well - if you have it all in one secure container like me, theres a good chance it will get destroyed.
Low sec ganks I get - this I dont.
Simply from ISK / risk ratio. |

Was that back when 5 bucks could keep you in bourbon and cigars for a month?
Some folks'll pay a bunch just to see a pretty explosion.

when done properly, so long as the loot is worth more than 2m, a suicide ganker can profit.
use a freighter.

My question: Why's this in MD?

I like the T2 transport ship suggestion.
It can be fitted for a decent tank - more then enough to hold untill Concord comes and kills the gankers.
THX for the suggestion.

A well fitted transport ship (blockade runner) should sort it. Fit for speed. You'd be amazed how quickly a Viator can align and warp when fitted correctly (rigs as well). The built in +2 warp strength is a nice insurance policy too. Add a cloak for low sec/0.0 shenanigans. Check out the ships and modules forum for full fitting suggestions.
The downside is that you can only carry about half as much cargo as you do with an Inty 4, but you'll get it there safely, and that's what counts isn't it.

Very often, no.
I have recently moved several hangars contents to move to a new mission area. I had several rig expanded itty 5 loads (38K each) to move, while the total value of the stuff was pretty low, mostly ammunitions, drones, utility modules and all the crap stuff I like to keep from missions loot (from exotic dancers to amarrian wheat).
I doubt any of my voyages had more that 200 million in cargo value for each trip (the good stuff was moved with the combat ships) but it was useful stuff (it is not granted that the destination station will have the ammunition you want, for example).
In other situations i have moved million units of low level minerals. Again the cargo value was pretty low, but the bulk high. Often buying the mineral in the destination station is impractical. So, depending on what you need to move, a large, weak ship sometime can be the only option unless you love to do 4 trips instead of one.

I believe they run a business like most of us, sometimes they come out with a profit and sometimes they get zip :D

Very good question.
But to try to make it worthy of this forum and not some lesser forum, the best way to avoid being suicide ganked is to not leave the station you're in. Courier contracts are your friend.

If your loads are relatively small then by using cargo expanders and secure containers you can fit a decent amount in some t1 battleships, if security is your focus. Personally I use a buffer tanked rokh, which from memory can hold around 2k m3 while having around 200k EHP. Overkill for most purposes, but situationally useful for afk hauling of high value items through highly camped routes etc.

For low cargo quantities in highsec I always use a covert ops ship. Short of lag there's almost no way to stop one. |

I've also used this technique for small high value afk running.

Look into training up contracting. Let someone else assume the risk, and with the extra time you save you'll make back the fees plus much more.
If your goods aren't profitable enough to spare a small % on a contractor, then they may not be worth your time.

I had a couple idiots in cruisers try to suicide gank a Bestower a few days ago. Thing was, it was empty. Didn't even have a box in it. A quick scan of the cargo hold would have showed that it didn't have anything in it, and a scan of my modules would have showed that I had kinetic hardeners on in case of blaster 'tards like them. Pretty funny, really. :)
