Well totally depends what you do but im guessing some private manufactures and people that mine 23/7 have a better chance then anyone to topping 6bil+ easily.

It gets funnier. People sold 'uber' accounts up to $400 on ebay for Earth & Beyond. Now that it [E&B] is being cancelled, I find myself wondering what those who have actually bought accounts on Ebay are doing now.

Total Cash: ISK 38,741,977
I have been around since release. I guess if I sold all my minerals, all my battleships, all cruisers, all frigates and all my modules stock and meta I'd probably be able to have around 400,000,000-500,000,000m ISK in total. But you got to remember that not everyone plays EVE only to hoarde ISK.
If I had been focused totally on making ISK I would have a lot more of it but at the same time I would probably have had less fun. Others might have their fun by making nothing but ISK all the time tough. -------------------------

Edited by: Hmmmmm on 10/06/2004 16:21:04 I'd have to agree that isk isn't everything but every once and a while someone makes a load and it can have huge power in the game for buying things or even putting compitition out of buisness. Which ever it be.
I'm sort of a jack of all trades type person. I can try anything once and then try it again later. Let it be some relaxing mining, to trading, agent missions, hunting NPC's, or even just going out killin people for fun. I'm proof in the game that truely any trade you do you can make money. Just depends how good you are at it and take minimal losses.
Don't know what I was looking for in this thread, but thats sort of my story to riches . Just skimped down verson of it actually.

I sold my account for over $400 on ebay and the guy ended up giving it meback last month. I was shocked when he gave it back as I expected him to at least play until the servers where shut down.
Glad I didnÆt charge him for advice as he did offer to pay more for help in learning how to play. I do plan to reopen the account for the last month to remeber old times and will invite him for some free play time.

Keep in mind 2 things:
1) the first 4-5 months or so in eve were back in the day of miner1's and you rarely saw an apoc strip miner. Cargo cans were much smaller and so were the cargo holds of haulers. In short, it took about twice as much time to make the same isk as you can now.
2) some of us don't play eve to be isk-*****s, to pay $15 a month to play a mining-sim with others that share the same goal. Many play simply to fight, and just make sure to have enough isk to accomplish that. Don't get me wrong, having plenty of isk is nice but not what many play for. ------------------------------------------------

I believe the first true Billionare in EVE was Ragnar of the old TTI. He was making battleships way back when few others were. I recall him paying $100m for 1 trit and putting out a market order for $1b in minerals very early on. I believe he played many hours per day.
Another thing to remember is there were people who were mining bistot for 10-12 hours a day straight early on when it was found in .5 empire space. It wasn't always so rare. Back when there were no belt or gate pirates. Im sure all you old timers remember the rollback the day after they put in gate pirates and everyone got nuked and trapped?
I'd have to imagine someone now could easily have between $15-20b. If someone bought a BS BP and was copying and selling copies they could rake in the cash without even buiding them.
I know one person who played about six months, quit, came back in the last month and has nearly $2b in personal assets himself and he's never been more then a part time player so I know its possible. But he focuses his time on making money and uses spreadsheets for his production stuff. I know Im not that dedicated! As for me I have about $3m in the bank and a couple cruisers after playing a couple months. Then again mining Pyro and Scordite there isn't alot of money in it.

I've seen people do nothing but buy/resell Megacyte+Zydrine for hours and hours and hours and hours endlessly, making hundreds of millions of isk a day.
200,000 Zydrine@3750 per = 750,000,000 isk 200,000 Zydrine@3975 per = 795,000,000 isk
Takes money to make money and it's as simple as "point, click, point, click, point, double click".
Some fat-wallet people also bought HUNDREDS of implants back when they were cheap. Risky as hell but look at them gouge us all now :D
Lots of ways to make money in EVE too many people tremble in fear though of getting burned on a large investment though so they'll always be poor.

Look at it a different way.
Let's say Bob makes $200 a day. Bob wants to play EVE, but he wants the best stuff, now. Maybe he's been playing for a few weeks, and doesn't like being low-level.
John plays EVE for 6 hours a day for three months, and decides after that time to ebay his account for $400.
16 hours of Bob's time = 540 hours of John's time.
That's not counting the money John spent on monthly service to EVE.
Bob can go to work for two days extra and earn everything back.
John can take that money, and use it to buy a new game, a year-long MMO subscription, and maybe a new video card. He can repeat the process next year.
Win-win for everyone: capitalism at its finest. The Monkeysphere |
