CCP,
Is it so hard to implement windows that stay in place when they are fixed / sticky / whatever you call it ?
Do desktop environments such as Windows / KDE / Mac OS X auto-move or auto-resize windows, and would you want them to ?
Will you tell us again that the bug has been fixed 3 patches ago and that the problem will magically go away if we exorcise the demons that are infesting our cache folders? (I tried that, and it didn't work - the demons keep coming back!)

Hi.
Have you bug reported this issue? What windows are moving around?
Have you tried clearing your cache and settings folder?

I am having the same problem as Feilamya. I will make a bug report, as well, state the issue here.
1. Drone window moves when un-docking. Not every time, but has several times (3 or 4) after having played about 3+ hours.
2. Once the game crashed while closing a window in a station. When I re-booted the game lost ALL of it's settings. Overview, Screen res, etc....ALL settings. This has happened before the patch.
3. Some windows do not remain the size which I place them at. When I would re-open one it would have re-shrunk to the default size as when first installing the game.
4. Pining windows does not always remain. I will pin a window and upon opening it again the window is un-pinned.
I will place the rest in a bug report. Thank you. --DARK

Had this problem and managed to solve it.
1. Delete all cache and settings. 2. In game pres Esc to get the menu, then go to Graphics & Display and on bottom right there should be Reset Settings button. 3. Arrange your windows as you see fit 4. win
I tried only deleting cache and settings but it didn't work. I got default windows and window positions, but after I set them up they started to jump around on every session change. After the Reset button they stayed in place. I hope they don't go berserk again...

That's what you think... They started to go berserk again after just 15 minutes!

They should just make pinned windows pinned. I.e. NO WAY TO MOVE THEM WHATSOEVER EVEN IF THERE'S AN EARTHQUAKE IN ICELAND.
Also caps = cruise control. ---

As I was saying to some of my pals, CCP's idea of pinning obviously doesn't match our thoughts on how it should work,

I only have problems with pinned windows which were "snapped" to another window (and then pinned). If I minimize all the open windows, move a window to where I want, then pin it, I haven't experienced that particular windows jumping around. However, windows that are snapped then pinned can end up anywhere on the screen (yesterday I had one pinned to the left side of the screen end up on the right side after undocking). It seems to be related to how the window determines what it will "snap" to, as some windows snap to the edge of the screen and won't move, but windows that snap to other windows seem more likely to be restless.
I have no tried cleaning the cache directory and/or resetting the window positions, although given that every upgrade seems to clear my window positions anyways, perhaps I should make a habit of it.

Seriously... do you guys even have a CONCEPT? Whose idea was it to unstick the services window, and let it snap around randomly to any window in station that happens to be within a rough 20 mile zone of the upper right corner?
I mean, what the **** CCP. Seriously. UI is THE most important thing right next to core game mechanics. Can you please ****ing get a clue already?

Even I am a bit confused now... I tried the same thing with "reset graphical settings" on my machine at work, but the menu layout is not the same as on my home PC. Could be because at home I run premium and at work I run classic client.
Anyhow, everyone I talked to ingame with this problem seems to have it fixed by deleting his cache and settings and then doing the "reset" thing ingame. After that no one complained about jumping windows.
P.S.: Bug probably has been fixed 3 patches ago, but people don't like to set up their overview and windows position every time there's a patch. You should bite the bullet, clear all your settings and redo them. It takes some time but at least you'll be able to play the game after it without being annoyed on every session change.

EVE is a sandbox. Build a house with windows out of sand, let the sun shine on it for some time and see what happens.
The problem now mysteriously disappeared. Maybe that's also what happened at CCP when they tested it...

Same issue. Happens on both Sisi and Tranq Biggest culprits for me are the local window, overview and assets.

If they are snapped to the side or top of the screen they tend to move around when you open another window too. Like if i have my hagar snapped to the side and open, and then open the market which is snapped to the top they automaticly stack one above the other. Same thing if I open a mission description window which is snapped to the top, with the hagar open. I have to minimize or close the hangar.
Couple times undocking, with windows open (can't recall specificly which ones) everything randomly jumps everywhere. Even the overview windows. It started happening a couple patches ago and behavior seems to change slightly from patch to patch and live to the test server. It seems like you are working on it but having quite figured it out yet. Trouble shooting an intermittent problem sucks.

They should allow snapping of windows to be turned off completely... That way I could move around my windows as I need them and when I'm happy with their positions I turn it off. An other Idea would be allowing to save and load a layout. For example when I'm at war I set up my windows differently than when I'm not...
Do you have that problem as well? I have set my info windows to open a new window everytime I click show info somewhere. However, that affects the market. If I click show info on it, the new info window is opened under the market (no matter where the others were before or where the market is). And if I happen to click the info icon on an other item in the market without moving the previous info item, all windows get scrambled around... --- "Multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign for a diseased mind." -Terry Pratchett |

Yes. Delete them. And then spend 2 hours tweaking all your overview settings, arranging pvp tabs, etc. etc. Fail.

Sometimes when docking, station menu is moved to a random location on screen. When undocking, selection window is below the overview screen.
I cleared cache and reset windows, but problem still happends randomly on all my machines/accounts Rock is overpowered, please nerf. Paper is fine.

You have to be sure you remove any trace of any cache/settings you have on your machine(s). In past I used to run eve with /LUA:OFF switch and this resulted in at least 3 different locations for cache and settings. So I checked program files and doc&set (all folders for all users; you'd be surprised how much garbage can eve accumulate over years), deleted any instance of cache and settings that seemed connected to eve (and some that didn't but everything still works). I then logged in, had default everything, changed it to my prefrences, undocked and voila! overview was screwed up, I fixed it, docked and again: windows all over the place. At this point I rescanned my hard drives, deleted any cache or settings, loged back in and when in station I reset settings from esc menu.
I then set up everything again and it worked without a problem so far. I just hope it doesn't go berserk again because I hate fixing my overview after every jump :\
If that doesn't work just do it the M$ way: Format, reinstall, hope it works :p
