Hi Guys & Gals,
Got a question. I've searched the forums, for it, but couldn't find the answer, so don't flame me for it :)
when a bpo is researched for material, lets say ME 50. Does it means that it had 50 runs on material research?
Or is there a different calculation?
another question, if I research an ammo bpo, also 50 runs, once the research is done, it has a waste % of 0.19. Is this ammount the same for all bpo's or is it different per bpo?

Yes 1 run = 1 ME level.

As far as I'm aware (and I did just doublecheck the database dump to be sure), all BPOs have a waste factor of 10 and material modifier of 5, so yes at ME50 they will all have 0.19% wastage. The only exceptions are the Rorqual's ore compression BPs which require no ME research and have no wastage.
It will however take each BPO a different amount of time to research to ME50, for ammo it's very quick, for battleships it's months, for capital ships, don't bother it's 1 ME level per month at best.
So while bigger items benefit more from increased ME, it takes alot longer to research ME on them.

I bet someone will dump a link to the table for the ME calculation. But here's the gist. Each research run adds 1 to the ME. 50 runs of ME research is +50 ME.
As ME increases on a BPO, it reduces the waste when that BPO (or a copied BPC) is used in manufacture (though never below 0%). The waste percentage is strictly a function of the ME number. A ship BPO with ME 50 will have the same wastage percentage as an ammo BPO of ME 50.

The higher ther ME, the less waste you have when you manufacture the item. What you see on the bpo waste will change as you increase the ME. All BPOs start at a waste factor of 10%. So the best ME level will vary with how many manufacturing runs you normally make at one time. When you look at the materials needed, the amounts shown on the bpo includes the wasted materials for the ME level you have research that particular BPO.

Thanx for your replies.
It would be quite handy if there's an excel sheet with all the available bpo's and their waste % and time needed for research, according to skill lvl.
I'll try to make one, if someone already hasn't done |
