ok sure it's prob been suggested but i havn't been able to find any posts on it....
I think it would be great if they provided us with radio stations we could listen to other than just changing the type of background music playing.
Imagine flying along listening to a metal, rock, or anime music station, or even an eve news station (giving us basic in game news such as astroid ring depletions, titan ship destruction, POS destructions, hot zones, price rises and changes etc etc....)
some of this wouldn't even be to dificult to do as they could route in already existing radio stations of the net such as Keiichi Anime Radio so it just feeds it through while you are playing so you don't have to go open an internet browser, windows media player or copy paste files around etc etc....
So any thoughts?

I agree that this could work however if you just want to listen to your own music then why do you not just play your itunes as well as playing eve? Thats what i do.

its not that i just want to listen to my own music.... i can do that well enough.... what i am saying is it would be nice to be able to have a selection of stations... whats the point in having a radio/jukebox if all you get is some stuff you barely notice as it is.... and its nice to be surprised by a radio station you actualy hear dif stuff from etc....

I like the radio station idea. Player owned corps could buy airwaves in each sector they want to have a radio station in, they could put on their own advertisements for their products, services, recruiting etc, as well as have dj's put together shows.
Each of the main races could have a station in their sovereign space, which could contain advertisements for in-game products (like a quaffe cola commercial), news reports, talk-radio etc. to give the game a little more atmosphere.
Players could jump into a system and cruise through the radio waves, just to occupy yourself (eve can be a game of patience).
The only problem with music/dj's is licensing,

i don't say that John Halur(the music editor) is bad but the music i hear from the jukebox isn't that good!Very slow paced music. I think this idea is great but when you hear the radio you will have to buffer the song which means lag for you!
But it is a good idea.

While it would be cool and all, do you want CCP spending money licensing music to compete with net radio, or idk, investing in the game... Beyond the legal morass that licensing large quantities of music to be played in many countries (net radio needs only be legal in the home country if at all, CCP needs to comply with the laws of many nations), this would promote client bloat...
So again, cool idea, just not something CCP should be investing in...

Radio Stations Ok imagine flying along listening to a metal, rock, or anime music station, or even an eve news station (giving us basic in game news such as astroid ring depletions, titan ship destruction, POS destructions, hot zones, price rises and changes etc etc....) Why: 1. Less lag than when you open a seperate program. 2. You get something new from what you usualy listen to. 3. adds to the realism of the game imersing you more into the game. 4. You don't have to have a special keyboard or switch between programs getting suddenly ganked while doing so to change the station/song.
Some of this wouldn't even be to difficult to do. 1. They could route in already existing radio stations of the net such as Keiichi Anime Radio so it just feeds it through while you are playing so you don't have to go open an internet browser, windows media player or copy paste files around etc etc.... 2. Create their own unique stations. 3. Allow you to import your own music into the game. 4. Improve the in game browser so it freezes less allowing you to open up radio stations.
I fit your entire idea, appended to the end of my post... why couldn't you have just posted it on the forum, rather than forcing us to some offsite location that makes quoteing harder and reduces acountability? |

well instead of radio stations you should be able to upload your own songs from the hard drive to the jukebox?

actualy they could probably even make it so that we pay less to play... think of it like this... online radio stations make money because of donations or advertising on the stations.... wouldn't they then wan't more people listening?
therefore i could see CCP making a system that allows online radio stations to pay a small fee to have their stations connected to the in game radio system.... then not only are they getting out to a larger audience now but CCP might even be able to lower the monthly game fee we pay cause they would then be making money from the radio stations...

i dunno i was on an old community computer when i posted those and it may have been glitching and what not which wasn't allowing me to fit it all in...

eh not so much... perhaps link it to windows media player so when you open it it shows you your playlists and you can select one and it draws off that... the problem with loading it into the jukebox is it adds more data and more lag... i would however love to see this though nonetheless if it could be done without causing lag ~~~Crazy People Think They're Sane. This has been suggested before. THe thing is most suitable music codec's are under some 'not so free to use for commercial purposes' license. Basically CCP would need their own codec and players would have to come up with some 3rd party program / method to convert their files to this new codec.
