I ran into an old friend playing eve. We wouldn't mind teaming up unfortunately he's Caldari Militia and I'm a minnie about to join FW on my side. There's no way around this is there? I could join Caldari Militia instead but then I wouldn't be able to do my trading in Minnie space. We both want to use our mains because we've both been developing them for over a year. I want to try FW but if we're in apposing militia we won't even be able to team up outside FW because we would be shoot-on-sight hostile?
Is the only option for one of us to start an alt?

Possible options include:
Spying
One or both of you dropping militia when you want to do stuff together
Treachery (does he fly nice ships?)
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

Gang up, and flee the war zone with your opposing militia status, true Romeo-Juliet style.

Actually he was flying a Condor last I checked, and had 1 kill and 9 deaths to his name.
If we can both just exit from the Militia whenever we want without it affecting our Militia ranks or anything then non-FW activities are a possibility. But no FW teaming up by the looks of it?

Well you can team up as a pair, but I wouldn't expect your FW comrades to participate or approve.

One of you could drop out of the militia and run missions for the other side until their faction standing rises above 0.5, and enlist. Now you're both in the same militia.
Or you could shoot each other in the face repeatedly, which is also tons of fun. ---

Edited by: Dr Sheepbringer on 06/09/2008 09:24:50 Well I would go all pvp on him :) Keep track on kills and if you win...you get his sisters, if he wins he gets your sister! If it's a perfect win (10-0) you get mom and sis ;)

Stick with him. Alliances and temporary "friendships" that emerge from joining certain groups mean nothing compaired to the true trust of a real friendship. And true trust in this game is hard to find. Let alone which side you are in FW means nothing. So since he is already part of Caldari militia and you are not in any FW militia yet it makes more sence if you go run some caldari mission to raise standings and join Caldari militia yourself. |

Do what Greeks did during the Trojan war - friends never fought friends. Whenever a friendship was established, the friends never squared off against each other, although they maybe fighting on the opposing sides.
Well, at least that is what the The Iliad tells us... of course, it could all be bullshit and they slit each other's throats like it was a drunk biker party.

I did know I could kill him guys - I didn't need to come in here to find that out. And I'm happy to kill him. In fact the smack talk has already started. What I was after are options. If there are any FW veterens in here, and a situation like this cropped up, what would you do? Dueling is good, but I also wouldn't mind trying some two-ship team combat and all the different tactics that entails.
Seeing as I'm not really getting any helpful posts other than the first guy I will just makes some guesses at my options: 1. I can join the Minnie militia then leave whenever I want to team up with him, and I'll not lose any of my militia ranking or medals if I do this. 2. I can join the Caldari Militia and leave whenever I want to return to Minnie space for my trading, and I'll not lose any of my militia ranking or medals if I do this. 3. I can join Minnie militia then team up with my friend and we can just fly around while being hostile towards each other. 4. I can just ignore FW altogether and be like one of those Swiss people, neutral to everyone, so then I could go anywhere, kill anyone, gang up with my friend and pirate or do mission, and eat some cheese.
