Edited by: Zenork on 06/09/2008 17:35:01 Atm I'm stuck in empire until I get some more SP's under my belt. I'm new to the game and was just wondering if anyone can tell me if the endgame is much like the gameplay exp you have when you start....
I keep reading about these great battles and I watch videos showing huge fights over territory, yet I'm stuck doing the same silly missions in high sec.... Nothing too dramatic....

What "end game"?
0.0? You can be there on day one.
Titan fights? Same.
FLYING A Titan? Not really...

I'd get my arse handed to me if I ever tried flying to to the areas where the big boys are fighting. But yeah, you are right... It's technically possible.

There is a big perception problem about 0.0 and SP. What you don't need are lots of SP. What you do need is to find some friends and be a part of a team
There are pleanty of low SP roles you can fill in big and small 0.0 alliances
(p.s. I consider 0.0 to be the end game in Eve)
_______ People like that don't have friends just temporary common interests.

Being new player is imo the best time in this game, everything is new, you go "oh shiny" at every item/ship you get, universe looks big and full of opportunities. I sometimes wish I had that feeling again . Appriciate the moments but at the same time dont get stuck doing one thing, be open and try different styles of gameplay.
Im sure some people will tell you that 0.0 battles are laggy and boring, some will say low sec is dead, others that high sec is just for noob miners and mission runners, but in truth the only limit is your willingness to engage in different gameplays.
If you do that im sure you will in the end participate in things you now only read about. |

Zenork, I think the vital bit you're missing is that you need to corp up. Meaning, if you want to experience 0.0 the fastest way is to find a corp that lives in 0.0 that wants you. Check recruiting channel.
As for "end game", it's not really the same as other games. You can't max out your character. As in, you CAN NOT do it. A few years ago someone figured out that it would take more time than the game had existed to train all skills to max. I believe this is even more true today than it was then but I haven't checked. (there were no titans then) What that means is that the "end game" is really whatever you want to focus on in the game. If your interest is politics, building an empire and killing players, your end game is being in a big ass alliance and maybe becoming a Fleet commander or Capital ship pilot. If your interest is not focused on PVP aspects of the game you can do missions, Exploration plexes, Deadspace faction plexes and level 5 missions (those are pretty epic) If you prefer PVP but dont like politics, become a pirate. I have no idea what your end game consists of, but you'll probably have a ball killing people that most likely aren't a match for you. (because you pick fights you can win, rather than ones that would be hard)
There is more, but this is an overview of what is out there.
For the record, you don't need "more SP", or more specifically, you don't have to wait for it to get here before you get into what you like. I joined an alliance early on with less skill points than you started with (back then we started with less SP). You will most likely be tasked with being a tackler, it takes very little SP and you'll be introduced to combat by it. ______________________________________________ Goon FC(08/12/06):"its a trap" "that thing is fully operational" |

Zenork, first of all, no such thing as "end" on a MMO, especially one as EVE on wich it would take any player in game about 15 years to be profissional on ALL the areas of EVE, incluiding combat, manufactury, mining, trading, research, etc, etc, etc. You can go to 0.0 be a pvp'er flying a titan and then right after that start working a managment on a R&D POS that has nothing to do with pvp, so basically, no such thing as "GAME OVER" in MMO's.
Now, about 0.0, really just like someone said up here, and i totally agree, IT'S NOT ABOUT SKILLS POINTS, it's about finding a team and learning how to fly in gang operations. You can be a recon / tackler with very very very few SP's, and still be a essential part to the 0.0 battle. Of course, just like you said, great battles probably you talking about capital ships so it can take you a while before you fly those, but even when you get there, it won't mean that the game is over. ^^
It's all a matter of perspective. Best Regards, Fly Safe, GodSpeed or Happy Hunting, Neoptolomeus |

This this this this. I miss my first year in EvE. Everything felt so big, so extraordinary. I was terribly excited when I did anything in the game. Of course I still love EvE, but that spark is very much muted. Currently im training up all races (was primarily caldari/gallente) so by the end of this year I can pilot nearly any ship from any race (with the exception of crapitals). So im really looking forward to that though that is about it. Im tempted to work my sec status up and go back to highsec but I dunno. ---------------------------------------

This tbh. What eve really needs is a goonfleet who are well, not goons. Somewhere new players can go with like minded players and have the joys of 0.0. The simple truth is that you can have a great time in 0.0 at any point after you learn the very basics, its just hard to find a home when you are a 2 week old char everyone thinks is a spy. This doesn't even just apply to pvp either, a 2 day old ninja miner would probably have a great time tbh, never mind having to use teamwork to kill bs spawns

I know we are not meant to talk about it here on the forums, under pain of instant death, but the end game fun doesn't really start until you are rich/skilled/famous enough to get the key to the Jovian access gate.

The 'end game' is when you can't think up any moar fun stuff to do in the sandbox. Then you end your game by quitting or at least dropping out for a few months to recharge.

Stop right there unless you have less than about 1 million SP in non-learning skills.
Combat experience beats SP. Seriously.

Assuming the op is interested in combat pvp. What are you interested in op so someone can give you a bit of advice on how to get started?

Edited by: DubanFP on 06/09/2008 21:19:46 Like the other people have said. You can have LVL 5 skills on everything and infinate isk and you will still die on your first PVP encounter. Personal experience is worth a billion times more then SP. Go find a PVP corp and join it. The earlier the better. I helped kill a battleship during my second week of EVE because 1) I tried to get into PVP as early as possible and 2) I found a good group to learn with.
It takes 5-6 hours, if that, to get the minimum base skills required to PVP. So go for it. You'll have a lot more fun. _______________

You dont need alot of SP to get into pvp.You can join the fray right after you started with a few hours of training. War. War never changes.
