Pilot pager - track multiple pilots from multiple accounts. Includes attributes, race, gender, bloodline, pilot name, current balance, and total trained skill points. Currently training skill - shows you what skill and level you are training and the projected completion time. Pilot skills - review all of your pilots skills to see what you have trained, and how long it will take to train to higher levels. Skills database - search the skills database for your next skill. You can search by skill name or by full text search on skill descriptions. NOTE: This application requires an active EVE Online account to be able to access the EVE web services.

This looks incredible, just a couple suggestions.
Display a countdown to when the skill is finished. For example: 3d, 20h, 15m, 45s
Display the skill ending date/time in the local timezone, not GMT.

Man, wish we had known you were working on this.
Skillwatch is our iPhone app that is being released soon. It doesn't involve typing in your eveAPI info, which we found to be annoying.
I like your app though. We should've combined efforts!!!
For screenshots of Skillwatch, please visit Roc's Ramblings
Good app though. Congrats on being first to get it out there!

Actually, Skillwatch will allow just that. You won't have to enter your eveAPI by hand, it's a one click solution for it.

Skillwatch is also the name of the Windows Vista gadget for eve-online. It's been out over a year: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=561882 Also, most of the top google hits link to the gadget or to pages about it. Things might get unnecessarily confusing with another eve character monitoring app using the same name.
I have an iPhone so I'm definately going to check out both of these apps.

Suggestion; if you can, make a file somewhere that is EASILY findable when SSH'ing to your iphone/touch (for those too cheap to buy the phone, like me...), and allow us to cut and paste like that. Typing in an API key by hand is annoying, to say the least.
Your skill info list is pretty nifty though :p

Doesnt anyone bother with the Eve Magic Widget at all? Compatible with any phone that is internets browser capable,it shows skills training, market transactions, pos fuel, sov changes etc.... You just enter your api info (online on a pc if its too fiddly on a phone),log into the site on the phone and away you go.Saved me many hours almost missed on quickly trained skills at the very least. |

Hi Rhaxis,
This is a good suggestion that was made to me through support as well. At design time, the notion of being disconnected with the device was hard to imagine. And we expected people to be mashing the reload button anyway. Nevertheless, I've tentatively slotted this work for release 1.2 as, quite frankly, the original thinking I described above was just wrong.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Edited by: Spectre3353 on 11/09/2008 16:43:28 Just set this up... very cool app. I know that it currently displays the TIME that your next skill is going to end, but would it be possible to also show the TIME LEFT as opposed to making us figure it out ourselves in our head? I am stupid and simple time based math scares me.
Also, any plans on adding the ability to create skill plans like EveMon does? Thanks.
EDIT:
Nevermind on the time thing... just saw what is coming in 1.1 on your website:

Hi Spectre,
I actually do not want EVE Tracker to compete with EVEMon. For two reasons: (1) EVEMon does a great job at what it does; and (2) I think it would be difficult to recreate what they've done with the limited real estate we have to work with on the phone. My preference is to work with EVEMon for planning, and then implement or follow the plan over on the phone. Have a few ideas how to do so, but it is all vapor right now. Would that scenario fulfill your need?
Thank you.

tbh, you couldn't really challenge evemon even if you wanted to. The iphone as it stands offers no background running so unless you have the app open all the time it couldn't alert you to a skill finishing.
But as a way to check a skill when your out, it's great. Just a shame 2.1 didn't bring copy and paste.
It's a shame ccp never got around to finishing the app someone designed for smartphones too.

I LOVE EVE Magic Widget!!!!!!
EvE tracker is flawed and a complete waste of time. Even the new version that just came out is a waste of time. The guy who made EVE Magic Widget gets 2 thumbs up from me. His program/widget is simple to use, and satisfies my on-the-go EVE viewage. Its got all the EVE mobile information you need.
Even with the new version, EVE tracker is one big pain in the ass. Thank god this program was free because I would have shot myself if had I paid money for it

That is odd. I know the CSS on EVE's page causes the keys to be displayed below the fold on narrower screens. Did you try to scroll down?

Probably. There are some folks with a healthy amount of skepticism.
This feature was added as a convenience for those having trouble adding their keys by hand. It wasn't worth the effort to do SSL cert validation and present it in a UI that was both familiar and trustworthy to the user.
The manual entry mode was left in precisely for those who are uncomfortable with the convenience method.
Cheers.
