Edited by: Binarii on 07/09/2008 17:04:10 Caldari 6 mill gunnery skills, T2 medium rails. Good shield tanking skills. Mediocre armor tanking skills. 1.5 mill in missile skills, no T2. Mediocre drone skills, can use T2 mediums. Battlecruiser skill at 5.
What BC and setup do you think would get me the most isk towards getting a Rokh, ratting mostly blood in 0.0?

Usually I have been in a Ferox, but I have done very little ratting. I guess the question is if named heavy launchers on a Drake would take down a BS faster than my T2 rails, even with my limited missile skills.
Or what about a blaster Brutix, as long as the tank will hold?

Sorry for my previous answer, I was upset and shouldnot be on forum when I'm like that. :3 Drake works even with low sp un missile, but you can consider using a cyclone. Tbh, against bloodraider I'll use an armor tanked one. It don't take long to train that tanking anyway.

a blaster ferox can be deadly as well, esp with it having 6 turrets now

I'd suggest a blaster Brutix with dual-MARs and all tank in the lows. It should tank well enough to get into blaster range and then the rats will melt so fast that further tanking won't be an issue. Fitting might be an issue as I recall Brutixs being tight on grid. Make sure to get a 5% medium hybrid damage implant, they are like 5 mil.

Drake, of course.
- Low maintenance uber tank - Solid damage - Keep aligned all the time because missiles are forgiving on range - Watch local, easier to do if you don't have to micromanage

Fixed. A drake doesn't do great dps even with good skills and T2 heavy launchers; with crumby missile skills you'll be tempted to start trying to ram the rats to make them die faster. Pity that its also so slow that you won't be able to catch them.

When it comes to ratting the Drake will simply be a better choice in general. Even ignoring damage bonuses a launcher puts out more DPS than a well skilled rail of equal size anyway. Besdies, a ferrox recieves no legitimate damage bonus for the purposes of PVE.
In the grand scheme of things for a caldari player and PVE, there is an easy answer for any PVE situation.
Missions: Level 1: Kestral Level 2: Caracal Level 3: Drake Level 4: Raven>NH>Drake
Ratting: Drake Raven NH
The hybrid platforms are simply outperformed by their missile brethren in every conceivable way for PVE. That isn't to say you can't rat blood's in a ferrox, I just highly doubt your ability to take down the toughest rats thanks to the low native DPS output of rails (even with AM) combined with the high resists towards the kinetic damage component of your rail slugs.

Edited by: Lusian on 08/09/2008 08:58:34 I can fly a brutix in 0.0 and rat in it.
Now typically the brutix as a very low natural tank. But what you lack in tank you get in + armor reapir bonus. Now at level IV BC in a brutic i cant get some awesome rapair bonus and tank 3 1.4 mill bs and some smaller flies you can swat with your drones.
Now in s Brutix in BC lvl V. I can tank 3 1.8 mill rats and with some eliminators as cruisers all of them consentrated on me.
You wont be able to do much in a brutix with the higher paying bounty rats untill you get bc to LVL V.
So here is my setup.
I have BC lvl V
In my lows i have = MAR II. ENAM II or tech I. kinetik and thermik hardeners II . Or you can take out the ENAM's and put in 2 Energized KIN and Therm II's. and one extra KInetic tech II energized.
that right there will give you the tank you will need. Wit this setup you can run your tec II mar no problem. tanking 1.8 million Userper rats and they're cronies will be a piece of cake I promise.
Gurista's do more kinetik Damage then thermal. But te destroyers will do more thermal damage.
For the mids. I use = 10 MWD. cap rechargers tech II. This setup rigt here will recahrge your cap after you med to get your blasters in range. And once you get in range, you will have enough to keep your hardeners going. You will have a cap recharge rate to use your
hardeners, Mar tech II, and your ion blasters and maybe if you can fit them 2 tech II neutrons.
Now for the highs i use = Ion II's x x 4 ot 5 and 1 Neutron II. I dont think i can get x2 neutron II's in there.
And i dont even have to use rigs lol. If you put rigs in to rat with your brutix then you are wasteing your isk. Unless you are useing to to pvp then throw some rigs in there.
Now throw some medium ECM drones in your drone bay to **** off the enemy pvper's trying to rain on your day and you will **** them off every time and shake they're heads ... oh why didnt i use asencor back up aray so i could reduce my godly stupid nano ***o!ry speed of my ship.
and once the ecm drones jam the nano ***o!$y pilot. you can warp off safely. Now if yo use an ishtar you can have a pvp setup no problems because te ishtar is set up for guristas naturally.
so there you go.

I use a brutix and yes, grid is a problem. It can easily permatank and handle multiple BS spawns, but when it's in "permatank" mode, it lacks punch. Also you MUST have MWD fitted, unless you want to take your time chasing down the rats...(specially with blasters!). The good thing about the 0.0 bs (sansha) is that they can't hit anything when you get close enough. So if you ain't tanking, you need to get side-by-side quickly.
But with your skills, go all DPS and melt them!!!

Thanks for all the input.
Looks like I will be skipping the "safer" shield tank alternatives for now and try on some quick facemelting in a blaster Brutix, praying that I have the armorskills to boot.

This. Drake is awesome. It does fine damage for its godly low-maint tank. You don't need a ton of skills to fly it, nor does it need a lot of attention paid.
My alt rats and does level 4s with a Drake. Cake, I tell you. Cake!!!!
No... PIE!!!!!!
