what's a good ship and fit for low sec, level 4 & 5 missions? i've been using a maelstrom in high sec, but unfortunately almost all the level 5 agents in minmitar space are in low sec. what should i use and how should i fit it? i haven't trained any other race's ships yet, so i'll need minmitar ships. here's what i've been using:
lows: gyrostab x3 pds II dc II
meds: lsb II sba I invuln II psf II hdf II cap recharge II
highs: 1400mm 'scout' artillery x8
rigs: ccc x3
drones: hammerhead II x5(x10 filled drone bay)
any other ideas? the pds, cap charger, and ccc's are keeping me cap stable at around 42%. should i bump up to an extra large booster? do i break down and add wcs's? i'm just wondering what's the best setup to avoid getting ganked while running level 4' and 5's?

I'd personally recommend an AC Maelstrom for lowsec mission running so you can really lay the hurt on people if they bust your mission.
That said, I hear BS's are failsauce in Lvl 5's and that passive shield tankers are the only way to go.

The named shield booster is because I'm too lazy/poor to buy faction booster for it (CPU) and the ECM drones are for people (like me) who bust missions on a fairly regular basis. ;-)
It's funny how I have turned into the thing that goes bump in the night.

if i'm just running phased plasma ammo, is there a need to train the t2 autocannons? couldn't i just use scouts? |

You don't need t2 autocannons for missions, and you should change your ammo depending on what damage type the rats in your missions are weak to.

and also, why the projectile ambit extensions? i would have thought that the projectile collision accelerators would be better? |

For low sec missions, it is best to use hac or command ships. For minmitar, Sleipnir is the number one choice. It is fast, deal great damage and can easily warp away if your mission got scanned out by pirates. A full set of 720mm arti can save you a lot of ammo too. Battleships are just too slow for low sec. Hard to get away from mission intruders. It happens a lot in low sec nowdays, especially you go to some of those well known low sec mission systems.

Comments: - Yes, you can use T1 autocannons. I wouldn't, because they're expensive and don't allow the use of Barrage. - You should change your ammo type to suit the faction you're running this mission against - Projectile ambit rigs give you more range for the autocannons. They're the only module in the game that affects falloff positively. - Losing a T2 fit Sleip compared to a T2 fit BS... I wonder which one's more expensive when you factor in insurance. :-/ - I've never had my mission probed down without me being aware it was happening. I normally have surprises waiting for people who actually succeed.
As for a Sleip fit: [Sleipnir, PVE Sleip] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II
10MN Afterburner II Large Shield Booster II Ballistic Deflection Field II Ballistic Deflection Field II Heat Dissipation Field II
720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Phased Plasma M 720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Phased Plasma M 720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Phased Plasma M 720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Phased Plasma M 720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Phased Plasma M 720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Phased Plasma M 720mm Howitzer Artillery II, Phased Plasma M [empty high slot]
Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Hammerhead II x4
I guess you could fit a cloak, tractor, or salvager in the last high, but I wouldn't bother.

so i just recently discovered the evemon ship loadouts and upped my dps on the afore mentioned maelstrom by 160 points still using t1 guns. they're amazing, tho i'm still trying to figure out the rating scale.
so my next question is: if i'm going to survive low-sec mission running, do i need to have t2 guns? will i essentially have to become a pvp'er to run pve in low sec?

Some missions can be done in bs, but very few either thanks to the absurd amount of hurt laid on you or neut batteries. Can't think of any bs, mimi, that could be tanked enough passively, you want to do them alone it's really pimpy marauder time or, falling that, a pimpy passive ishtar with tii sentries, which works surprisingly well, if slightly slower. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |
