On my way to training for a carrier now. been looking at the chimera, wyvern, nyx or thanatos. roughly equal skill training times but cant decide which race to go for. and would rather not fork out 900 mill for both race carrier books! what do you guys think the pros and cons are towards these ships?

yes, you can produce amaing personal tanks with the Chimera and Wyvern using max skills and 35 billion in X mods. But ultimatly, remote armor reppers are used more commonly in RR fleets (in part because shield is harder to fit) and 3 of the 4 capital and battle ship races are armor based. So ultimatly, the Thanatos is far more versitile and just as capable as the Chimera.
Also, the Moros is better then the Pheonix for everything a Dread does. . .so staying consistant is also a +.
I fly Caldari capitals, but if I could do it all again (carrier 5 is not a skill I need to repeat again) I would fly Amarr or Gallente.

From what I read on the forums (I won't fly capitals), it sounds like
Chimera if you're not into dreads. Good personal tank, though occasional lack of remote shield is  . Shouldn't be a problem if you're in a capital savvy alliance. The phoenix currently suffers from smartbombed DPS disease, and I've seen no mentions for a fix.
Thanny if you want a moros too. It's racial bonus (damage) kind of sucks for the carrier scene, however it's armor tanked and has a higher chance of being saved via RR. Moros is pretty neat for station camping, and also does pretty well for pos smashing, ranked at #2 out of the 4 dreads (IMO)(Rev > Moros > Phoe > Nag).

Heres my question to you,
How large is your alliance? if its a bigger one I'd recommend learning to fly the chimera, and eventually the wyvern, as moms are important battlefield assets.
