Regardless if you just play eve or several MMO's, what do you consider a "prized" possession? For an example, do you automatticlly equate valueable to something that is inheriently rare in the game? For an extreme example if you had a federate issue mega, would that be your prized item? Or do you consider say your best mission running ship to be the jewel in your crown even though everyone and their uncle has that same ship? -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

For example, I consider in EvE my navy mega to be my prized jem. I do not fly it and it sits, while well fitted, in a hangar I can't even access anymore in empire space, owned by an alt. Just like a locked saftey box, if I ever want to use it again, I have a ton of hoops to jump through. This is intentional.
or in SWG, I am one of the few who can actually say they own an item that was *never* supposed to drop. at last check, it sold for ingame currency there for 3 billion. A billion more than a single character can have on them at any one time. ----

I have a couple beautifully furnished homes in SWG that I like to visit now and again.
Also, I have a ship collection in EvE. I'm missing a few Amarr sub-capitals, but not many. I love my ships.

My prized possessions in MMO's tend not to be what other people prize I feel, In EVE for example there is nothing I prize more than my collection of Burst class frigates, to most people it's just a pile of reprocessed materials waiting to happen but to me it's my.. well.. it's ME. There is something about that ship that speaks to me and makes it worth mining in that as opposed to my Hulk, I have a lot more fun in the Burst than any other mining ship.
I only play one other MMO really these days, Planetside. Again, my prized possession here is an odd choice but it's my Switchblade. I know it's not MY Switchblade (Nothing in the game is truly yours I guess, you never drive the same vehicle twice or use the same guns, it's all from stock) but whenever I'm in one it's definitely my most prized thing in the game. That and my 10mm pistol (I was once kicked from a squad because the leader noticed my only weapon was my 10mm pistol, that really speaks volumes about it I think).

Whatever tool gets the job done tbh.
My "best" ships are pretty ghetto by most people's standards (I own all of two pieces of faction shiny and one rigged ship) but they do what I want them to do efficiently so I'm in them non-stop.
Anything too Gucci to use would not be my prized possession because it wouldn't let me do anything.
I know what you mean Benco. My prized possessions were my Sweeper and my Mag-cutter. There were many Sweepers like it, but that one was mine
Or maybe that Vanguard full of bullet-holes I drove non-stop for four hours.
The 10mm is far from rubbish though. You can instagib people with it point blank. It's a pocket triple-shot. EVE RELATED CONTENT |

It USED to be that powerful but they've toned it down a LOT now, it uses 100% stamina to fire in secondary mode and it'll only one hit kill Agile(Agile will survive if they perfectly time a medpack) and lower, Reinforced armour survives it (And let me assure you, you will NOT when they turn around and you're on 0 stam with no ammo in the clip ). Who the hell DOESN'T wear Rexo now? Aside from silly people like me or people trying to ADADADADADADADA through walls I mean.

In any virtual environment I exit, just as in real life, I do not consider "prized" any possession. For me prized are my family and my friends (those few).

While the sentiment is very touching I feel that perhaps you're being a little over-dramatic. The question was in regards to items in games, not our lives themselves. I'm sure most of us value our friends and family in a way that we cannot even begin to quantify, however, tending to favour a particular item in a game over another certainly doesn't detract from those feelings.
Surely you must have SOME item in EVE which you prefer to all others?

Some people just don't value *things*. I like owning cool gadgets and such, but couldn't care less about money, except as a means to get things and be comfortable. I act the same way in game, spending my money pretty much when I get it.
Meanwhile, some people value having money for money. I figure that there are probably people who really don't give a crap about the things around them, and are far more centered on the relationships between themselves and others.
Doesn't seem too much of a stretch. He might value one thing above another, like a battleship above a frigate because he uses the prior more often, but maybe it's all just numbers and stats. Who knows.

I'd say that something needs to be desirable, memorable, or difficult to obtain, but not necessarily valuable, in order to prized.
I currently possess what is probably the only ship in the game that has bookmarks in its drone bay - I was the first person to notice that this was possible, and since I bug-reported it, after a considerable interval, it's now impossible to replicate. That said, I doubt anyone else would be particularly interested.
Also, consider Entity's item collection. He's got a complete officer set, but he still lacks some basic T1 modules which he would doubtless prize, even though they'd be worthless for all intents and purposes. ----- DIY copying in Liekuri

My prized possession is being at the top of something, usually PvP. In WoW I made the grind to High Warlord and got those sweet sweet weapons, and went to Arena when the expansion came out. I quit WoW and don't plan on going back, and it would be hard to be at the top of something here in EVE, so for now maybe just being able to hold an area or be great at a ship. Right now my skills are my prized possession (skill points). But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

In eve there isn't much that I prize, as nothing is permanent.
On SWG though, I collected the rare stuff - it was something I really enjoyed doing. That and interior designing. That game was amazing, and is still amazing for the housing options. Not a game has topped it. But I think displaying corpses in ambulation will come close.

When I first started playing Eve in Feb 04 the Interceptor was the only T2 ship available. Despite the deluge since then and the constant 'balancing' and nerfing by CCP, I still love the idea of the small, insanely fast fighter. Though I fly other classes, I still find the Interceptor more appealing than the battleship, so to win the Crow BPO in the lottery (either the last or 2nd to last one) way back then was amazing. Despite a small collection of other T2 BPs and most T1 originals, that one is still my baby
Of course for the last couple of years I'm only really logging in to keep skills training. I keep telling myself I'll play again some time, and all those SPs will be handy -------------

Whatever makes my character more distinguished than others at my level. I want my character to be so beefy that you can't even see his face because of his biceps Shinier the gear the better; when my character runs I want the ground to shake, I want other people who may try to gank me have to have their guild help, I want to learn how to properly use commas, I want my character to be so epic that he radiates doom and destruction. ---------------------------------------------
