I guess it depends. An LSE is a temporary barrier to damage and sentries will be delivering the damage in heaps. A booster, if sustainable would extend your operational time under the guns, potentially forever.
Of course, if you have someone delivering shields/armor back to you then all is well - just fit a resist mod or two.

Anyone try using logistics in PvP, sans fleet battles? I'm curious if they can survive a 5v5 encounter or something similar. But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

Technically, remote repping gangs would fit the description of a small logistics gang. For their size they represent the hardest targets to kill. With careful coordination between the ships a small RR battleship gang can take on and win against substantially superior numbers of ships sporting strong local tanks. Falcons are anathema to RR gangs.
As far as the actual logistcs cruisers go, it's difficult to justify their use in many situations. The T1 cruisers (Osprey for example) can do an incredible job of transfering cap/shields/armor but the ships are incredibly flimsy, and thanks to the aid they provide they can be welcoming targets. With decent skills an Osprey pilot can permenatly run two large shield transfermodules permenatly, granting a shield boost roughly equal to a permenantly running XL booster.
The actual "logistics" class of cruisers have similar issues. If they can be kept alive the aid they can provide their gang mates is virtually unsurpassed. Unfortunately, they tend to draw a LOT of fire and as such generally only see use repping/shield boosting POS shields. I can fly a basklis, and the only service my ship saw was boosting a POS shield for many many hours after we set it up.
From a real world combat scenario, Carriers repreesnt the best logistics ships commonly available. Thanks to their incredible EHP and fantastically useful transfer modules they can actually stay alive long enough to aid thier friends even when they come under fire themselves. In my time playing about in 0.0 fleet warfare, I never once saw someone bring a Logistics Cruiser to the battle, as common doctrine dictates that they would probably be better served on the front lines in battleships. Of course, if you can utalize that fantastic range it's concievable that even in a large gang a Logistics cruiser can be handy, presuming you can sit outisde the range of the opposing ships.

In current, speed-tanked ship universe, basilisk and scimitar are good additions to your roaming gangs. 2 of them can keep each other alive and boost the tank of other fleet members. Rapier and vaga pilots will love you big time!
Armor logistics are awesome too. Look at the last eve tournament, double guardian setups were almost unbreakable. And there's also some eve videos featuring guardians ("YDIW: gatecamping" pops in mind)
Haven't answered the OP.. Logistics aren't really good under sentry fire, unless there's 2 of you :) Then go for max recharge and buffer tank. I wasn't really helpful...

The setup that nixal posted seems pretty decent for low-sec stuff, I would change the shield booster to a large shield extender though. Even so you'd need another shield logistics ship with you in gang otherwise you're not going to last very long under sentry fire. To be honest, armor repping logistics are preffered in low-sec because most people tend to use armor tanking ships but I guess that depends on the people you have in gang with you . A nice way to also use your scimmie is to boost snipers in your gang using sensor links. Awesome in low-sec too because you don't need to stay in range of the sentry guns. Scimmie is probably my 2nd most favourite ship in the game and I've used it a lot in small/medium sized roaming gangs around 0.0. A great addition to any gang and nonetheless a very very fun ship to fly.
