What are kids good for if not for buying Lego kits for "them" that they're never allowed to touch?!

Looks like my kid is going to be getting a Rifter as soon as I can buy one... Discoveror of CCP's original missile damage formula. |

Children are an excuse to build awesome stuff with lego. War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |

No reason not to make it. People buy space legos. Will buy it without knowing what Eve is before or after they buy it. Benefit is Eve players that don't buy lego will buy Eve legos. Might even rivaal Star Wars Legos. |

So the 'Shaun of the Dead' Cuusoo project did not pass the review and was refused. They said that it
''contains content that is not appropriate for our core target audience of children ages 6-11.''
Makes me nervous for our Eve Lego, set in our dystopian violent world =/ seems it doosn't matter if 10k people are willing to buy it if the core idea is too mature... |

I wouldn't be too worried, I saw Halo Legos in Target the other day. It's not EVE that's for sure but it's still a pretty violent sci-fi future. Discoverer of CCP's original missile damage formula. |

LEGO refused Halo and so MegaBlocks lapped it up greedily. The main reason LEGO denied Shaun of the Dead was for the same reason the movie industry gave it an R rating - it contains content that is adult oriented - language and gorey violence. Its not zombies, or violence in general - LEGO is releasing its own Monsters line with zombies and Indiana Jones and Star Wars has plenty of violence.
So, what about EVE? Well, you can easily argue that it is less violent then Star Wars. There are a lot of ship battles but no person to person killing. I could see Dust straddling the fence of LEGO's ideals but I don't think EVE could - not without a massive bending of reality. You could say the EVE fanbase is immoral or inappropriate for children, but you could say the same thing about Star Wars The Old Republic MMO. In the end they have to base it off the property, not the people who play it.
Ok, granted, I'm nervous too... |

Mega Blocks ewwwwwwww
I have my fingers crossed like everyone else but there is nothing redeemable about the Eve universe or community! Star wars is the biggest no brainer, its soft science fantasy and it has Jar Jar, the kids love Jar Jar, I guess some mature **** happens also with Indiana Jones and Harry Potter some dark elements... |

No news on the Rifter to report yet. The LEGO review is in June. 3 more models may be joining the Rifter and Back to the Future Delorean: Zelda, Western Town, and Serenity from Firefly. LEGO may have its hands full.
Good news:
I'm well on my way to finishing the next model - the Merlin. The initial hurdles are over and I'd say I'm about 50% done and its going swimmingly. I am surprised that it is actually much harder then the Rifter...
I will report back |

Cuusoo has updated its guidelines to include stricter rules for submissions. One such rule includes "no video game first person shooters". This would mean that Dust514 is out. These guidelines come a day or two after the Firefly Serenity model was rejected due to adult themes that would not fit with the 6-11 year old age group.
In other news, I'm happy to announce that the Merlin is finished. One of the office artists is giving it a photoshop pass (for the nice white background) and then I'll submit it to cuusoo. Cuusoo pre-review process means it'll be up in 72 hours after submission. I'll spread the word once it's ready. I will say this: it was much more complicated than I originally thought it would be. It has so many angles. It makes the Rifter look easy. |

Just had to explain to my 8 y/o why she cant have a Lego Dramiel like she fly's, She didn't understand that the Rifter is a one of a kind and hasn't been made by LEGO yet. she wasn't happy about that. So i know the kid customer base is there, just need to get it started.
You had my vote when it was still under 1K, everyone in my family voted for it, and i know they would love to see more!

I have a feeling it may not go well for the Lego Rifter. They turned down the Lego Serenity from Firefly because it did not fit their primary demographic of 6-11 year old kids. If that doesn't I can't possibly imagine that EVE Online will at all. I really seems kind of strange for them to have a stance like that...especially when people like myself who grew up on LEGO's are now in their 30s and 40s. Seems to me they have a market out there they are just ignoring now. EvE is not about PvP.-á EvE is about the SANDBOX! |

Tonia, before you start working on another ship (if you plan on doing it), it might pay to wait a bit and check out the new models of some ships coming with inferno. I, for one, am very curious about the new crucifier. |

Supported! :D
Once I finish with it, you may be seeing a UCS size of the older style Reaper on there. I had posted a thread of it some time ago but the forums ate it lol. While your focusing on the bigger frigates, I think I may be going with the rookie ships. We'll see how that goes. |

That looks awesome! Great work! And definitely put it up on Cuusoo! I LOVE all the EVE cuusoo products. It really shows LEGO how serious we are. I really wish I had the time (and pieces) to build all the ships. My next builds will be the Executioner and Incursus. |

Thank you! Yep I plan to... and to also include the pod I built that can fit a guy. .The pod is actually small enough that it might have a chance of fitting in your Merlin now I think about it. It's roughly 7 studs wide and 10 studs long. Might be too small for Lego figs... but it can still fit one in there.
Even if Cuusoo turns it down, I have far plans to build the ship in reality. If you need more pieces, you could always try looking into Bricklink if you haven't already. I plan to start buying like it's the end of the world when the times comes for me to buy parts for my noob ship. |

I have purchased pieces on Bricklink occasionally to complete existing sets or sets I buy on ebay that may be missing a piece. The Merlin represents the first time I've ever bought pieces off of Bricklink to finish a non-instruction model. Usually I look for workarounds. I did buy a ton of cheese slopes. |

Ahh, cool. Yea... I would hate to see what my inventory would cost. I would have to purchace everything as my extra parts collection is the pile in this picture. ...Though if I go and think like a Minmatar, I could build my ship with those... and have pieces left over to also build a titan. But yea, mostly everything I own is in a storage unit >.> |
